Obama on Fox -- or lack of sleep?

Josh: "But at the end of the day, all I really find fault with was saying Obama was going to do something he wasn't."

Indeed.  But it wasn't the "unnamed Obama advisor" who did this. It was TPM's Greg Sargent.

The advisers words may be taken in different ways. Greg appears to have taken them the wrong way.  This would be the most obvious explanation because to imagine otherwise is to fly in the face of anything that anyone who knows anything about Obama would have expected him to do.

You, yourself, write what Obama "presumably" wanted to do, and of course it has nothing to do with what Greg reported Obama was going to do.

If Greg had given more thought to what he was reporting, he would have realised that he was looking at something that was either momentous or made no sense.  If he'd done that, he would have gotten back to the advisor for a confirmation, and he would have gotten a clarification.

Instead he did not think, and ended up being the source of misinformation which, accepted uncritically by others who should also have known better, has "generated a lot of heat from [the] progressive blogosphere."

I've suggested in earlier posts that Greg may be suffering from insufficient sleep. This is probably true of many people involved in these primaries, including the candidates.  Lack of sleep -- and it doesn't have to be a great lack: a little lack over an extended period works just as well -- has similar effects on drivers as alcohol.  It slows reaction time.  It clouds thinking. It results in errors and accidents.

Are you and your staff getting enough sleep?

Btw, FreeBubba, do have any idea what sleep-deprivation is like? If you did, you might not toss around such an analysis so lightly, so glibly.

just kidding.... :-)

You had my temperature rising until I saw the smiley. LOL

I think every TPM reader should pick a stone (the heavier the better) and throw it right into Greg's face. Preferably aiming at his nose.

Wait... everyone's already done that, pretty much all over TPM.

Ah, how tough to live through the politics of hope...
