Obama is a sure loser.

"Now, after Obama's uncategorical repudiation yesterday of the man who presided at his wedding and the baptism of his daughters, voters and other political observers will inevitably wonder what took so long - and how Obama could have misjudged someone to whom he was
very close.

Jimmy Carter: Obama has
been 'really damaged'

Even former President Jimmy Carter, who normally avoids commenting on the presidential race, told CNN that Wright had "really been damaging" to Obama's presidential campaign.

Politics as usual: Obama was forced to throw Wright under the bus

Obama's struggle to find the right tone -- six weeks ago he said he couldn't disown the pastor he's known for 20 years -- also reflects a striking difference in how Democratic voters view the controversy and its proper handling.

Obama's remarks
open a 'can of worms'

When Obama says he is "offended" by Wright's latest comments -- given in defense against an orchestrated assault on his character and on his ministry -- he's opening up a can of worms.

Why'd Obama join Trinity
in the first place?

The question is worth revisiting now that his ex-pastor is threatening his entire campaign.

Wright has a right to
defend his reputation

" How dare someone who has been so deftly caricatured by the media try to defend himself and show that there is more to him, his life and his ministry than fits into a video clip on YouTube."

Wright's comments alarm black ministers

African American ministers in Los Angeles expressed angst and concern Tuesday that a fresh round of comments by Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor was hurting the Democratic presidential candidate's campaign and skewing public understanding of the black church."

Now the gop are dusting off their liberal arguments.

Obama is a sure loser. Period.

Oh goaty, All you did was cut and paste this from the Boston Globe. And here I thought you had finally put two thoughts together on your own for once.

Young Mr. Hillary. "More of a tough man,
than Rocky Balboa."

Gotalife, I'm starting to get the impression that you don't like Obama.

"Wright fiasco shows that
Obama is not ready to be President of the United States:

What Barack Obama is yet to resolve is the matter of decisiveness, of acting quickly, speaking forcefully, and perhaps not waiting for overnight polling numbers or a full-blown disaster, to decide the next day's course."

http://www.suntimes.com/news/marin/922566,CST-EDT-Carol30.article

There are thousands of these articles.

Do I have to post them all?

Reality check, Obama should drop out.

Do you have to post them all? You might want to consider it. Starting with the Chicago Sun-Times isn't very impressive. Do you have anything from a Scaife paper? How about the Washington Times? Has Murdoch's new rag written anything yet?

you should stick to HuffPo, dude...

If you're gonna spew about them then you gotta refer to them and we want the links.

Just that simple. Provide links.

Jimmy Carter also said he thinks Obama did the right thing in how he responded to Wright this week. On Monday, Carter indicated on Larry King that we'll have a clear nominee June 3: the candidate who has the most pledged delegates, pop votes, and states won. That would be Obama. Carter's chief point, in that discussion, was that a protracted contest, beyond June 3, would hurt the Dems chances. He suggested we look at his experience in 1980 running against Ted Kennedy. You may want to bring that interview to the attention of your candidate, gotalife.

Obama's struggle to find the right tone -- six weeks ago he said he couldn't disown the pastor he's known for 20 years -- also reflects a striking difference in how Democratic voters view the controversy and its proper handling.

What are you trying to say? Obama responded in Philadelphia to the media firestorm over the Wright sermon clips. This week Obama responded to Wright's PR tour. Two different situations. Two different responses.

Hang on a minute. Obama should drop out? Because someone else said something that others found offensive? Because articles have been written by the MSM? Because he isn't the (gasp) pristine, perfect, unflawed human being the MSM has been building him up to be?
If this is the premise, any catholic person running for office should quit now. The priests that molested children and stole money have tainted their congregations...forever! How ridiculous is that? Since when are we to only be around people that fall in lockstep with our own points of view? And since when are we responsible for the words or actions of others? Seriously. My pastor is a great guy, I adore him, but his as rightwing as they get, and he says some pretty ridiculous things. But OVERALL the interpretation of the bible that he presents, appeals to me...for the most part. I admire his refusal to elevate himself. I connect to the stories he tells. My brother's pastor compared Bush I & II to the Father and the Son. How sacriligious is that??!! But I didn't get up and leave. I didn't raise my fist in protest or shout back that he was insane. I was there to worship. NOT the PASTOR but God. Keep things in perspective.
Obama is ahead. Just because the media has turned on him does not mean that he needs to go away. I have been following him for over 4 years, gauging his actions by what he says and I am absolutely convinced that he is the real deal. Let's not forget that Clinton was supposed to win PA by double digits. She did not. She won by 9.2% which by any other calculator would be rounded DOWN not UP. He managed to close that gap pretty tight.
Do we really want the nominee to be determined by Rush's Operation Chaos? Do we really want the person that the rightwing is trumpeting? Is this the best we can do? Same ole same ole, business as usual. Clinton will be giving testimony, if nominated, as the democratic nominee, for a civil case of fraud. Is that not just handing the presidency over to McCain?
Come on now.

Gotalife, listen. You are no Republican troll--you don't want McCain elected and you're very concerned about the direction of this country. There is a very good chance Obama is going to be the nominee--one might even say a great chance, despite what you might wish. So isn't it time to cut out all this anti-Obama rhetoric and focus on strengthening him so he can beat McCain and we can save this country from the hell-in-a-Republican handbasket? For the sake of the country and the Democrats?

Well you better tell that to the two super delegates that endorsed him today.

... three.

If Obama is a sure loser, I wonder how history will view Hillary Clinton. She had literally all the name recognition in the world. She had 8 years as first lady and a supposedly brilliant campaigner and certainly beloved Democratic former President. She had the party machine at her disposal. She had at least six "home" states to campaign in. She had oodles and oodles of experience and she had already been thoroughly vetted. The American people already knew her and knew that she was ready to lead on Day One. And she still wasn't able to wrestle the nomination away from a relatively unknown Governor from a Southwestern state, a relatively unknown Senator from a tiny state in New England, a gaffe-prone Senator from a tiny mid-Atlantic state, a former Senator and Vice Presidential candidate who may be best known for a $400 haircut and having a father who was a mill worker, and a first-term upstart Senator for Illinois.

Who's the sure loser again?

avatar

Viewpoints like this focus on Clinton's weaknesses and neglect Obama's strengths. All of the things you've noted are true: Clinton seemed to have it in the bag and she was overconfident to a fault because of this.

Yet, from Iowa it should be clear that Obama had and still has a built-in advantage. He has extremely dedicated, active supporters, many of which are youth. This helped him do well in caucuses. He also ran on a message of "change" which, though not well defined, was something Americans yearned for. He effectively (with the help of Clinton herself) cast himself as the new-era politician and Clinton as that of the old-era. Last but certainly not least, Obama is black. Americans have a conscience, and for many it is a dream to elect a brilliant African American as president.

I've said it before: if Obama was the same man he portrayed himself as in the beginning, I would support him. But he is not. Not only does he have disturbing character flaws and associations, he is a liability in the general for Democrats. That is why I will continue to support Clinton.

avatar

Yes, of course. That is only logical since Hillary has the least disturbing character flaws and shady associations. In fact, it makes perfect sense that the Obama characteristics which first drew you to support him now leave you supporting Hillary.

"Viewpoints like this focus on Clinton's weaknesses and neglect Obama's strengths."

You've got that exactly backwards. The title of the post is "Obama is a sure loser." I didn't focus on Clinton's weaknesses. I focused on Clinton's inability to turn her built-in advantages from the outset of this process into a victory. In fact, I would go a step further and say that in taking into account her strengths, the qualities that she is touting as being qualifications for President quickly unravel. If she's so smart and so talented and so clearly the best person for the job, why isn't she winning? If he's a loser and he started off as a relative unknown, doesn't that make her a super-loser? The First Lady of Losers? Ready to Lose on Day One?

"Last but certainly not least, Obama is black. Americans have a conscience, and for many it is a dream to elect a brilliant African American as president."

Is that kinda like how the media really wants there to be a good African American quarterback so they've been propping up Donovan McNabb all these years? Listen, I'm ultimately an optimistic, open-minded person. I love America and I think this is a fantastic country. It isn't perfect and there are a lot of things that we will all have to work very hard on if we want to improve it, but the list of places I'd rather live is pretty short. I don't believe for a second that there's a large pocket of support for Barack Obama that is just voting for him to get the whole "black President" thing checked off the list. It certainly isn't larger than the pocket of support for Hillary because they want to get the whole "female President" thing checked off. So that's a wash at best. And it certainly isn't larger than the pocket of people who would never vote for a black many for any position higher than janitor under any circumstances... So I don't think you thought that argument through too thoroughly. And what you actually wrote was pretty Limbaugh... Trust me when I say this: Black people will let you know when it is suddenly a tremendous advantage being black on a daily basis. I'll write a post about it...

"Not only does he have disturbing character flaws and associations, he is a liability in the general for Democrats. That is why I will continue to support Clinton."

The pot called the kettle what?

Takes one to know one.

I was excited there for a minute that Gotalife had posted more than his usual one sentence of inane commentary. Alas, imagine my disappointment to realize he just did a copy and paste of someone else's commentary. At least he included quotation marks.

Shocking... just when you think you knew somebody, they go and change it up.

You can ignore these thousands of articles and keep drinking the kool aid but in the real world, Obama is toast.

He is hurting the party on down ticket races and should drop out.

Two more superdelegate endorsements today! I guess that to a tree-sloth, everything in the world looks upside-down as well.

As we learned from the Rev. Wright controversy, just because someone said it, doesn't make it true. Otherwise we'd just have a bunch of equally valid competing truths running around... oh.

You don't "HEART" Obama. As you correctly point out, other people don't "HEART" Obama too. Good for them, that's their right. However, it is my right to ignore all these people and you as well because I think you couldn't be more wrong.

And God forbid I should ever run for president, someone would probably dig up the fact that I'd replied to one of your comments on TPM, rendering me unelectable since i showed such poor judgement in choosing how to use 5 minutes of my time.

5 minutes? Lucky bastard.

Geeeez, gotalife! I keep thinking of you as a better person than you sometimes reveal yourself to be.

I hope you're not taking lessons from that loser, Weaver.

Provide links to the quote you use, please. Who said it, where and when?

Who is the biggest loser, the loser or the candidate who was beaten by the loser?

avatar

Gotalife:
straight off of AM radio from Slush Limpjaw - drink the koolaid, drink the koolaid. How inane. Constantly insinuating that anyone not supporting your choice is a mindless follower. How sad.

I've always favored: 'Brush Lintball'.

Rash Lumpbutt!

Bush Loomphbah

avatar

Gotalife is getting desperate because the writing is on the wall. Superdelegates since Clinton's "HUGE" pennsylvania win? 9 for Obama and 4 for Clinton.

This game is about over.... time to rally around our Democratic nominee.. BARACK OBAMA!

Here is a thought.

Leave this blog and read.

I can't do your reading for you.

Lord knows you have enough trouble reading for yourself. :(

LINKS!!!!

Gives us the links. The Precious Links!!

Sorry, dear, but it's called plagiarism. Either provide cites for your posts or don't post - publishing other people's work and then pretending it's your own is a crime.

What's the matter goaty, don't like it when the vultures start circling the corpse of your troll-post?

avatar

I agree, since he is ahead in delegates, states won, and number of people who have voted for him (including FL...he should drop out. Since he is responsible for whatever anyone else says, including his former pastor and Pres Carter... he should drop out. Since he has exploited his distinct advantage of being a freshman Senator, with an Arabic name who is black (shame on you Sen Obama!)... he should drop out. Since the superdelegates continue to flock to him, in spite of Wright's two flare ups... he should drop out. Since he continues to draw huge crowds, and gets people excited... he should drop out. Since the MSM has been stepping on his neck, and he has maintained his cool...he should drop out. Since he continues to outraise both of his opponents and will have a huge war chest to fight McCain...he should drop out.

And lastly,
Since he will get the Democratic nomination and clean McCain's clock in the fall...he should drop out.

new10 - ;) Flush Pimpjar?

NvIAv8r - Well said.

demosaur - you are almost a little TOO quick.

Oh. And you also better tell it to New Jersey because a new poll done there shows that Obama is more popular there than Clinton. Oh, is this what they call buyer's remorse? Hmmm.

I want you to post the thousands of articles. If you say it, spray it.

I want to know what the media drum beat is... I want to know what to think... I want to know how to feel.

If anything, the Rev. Wright issue came to a head, and Mr. Wright went too far... Obama had to utterly repudiate him, and now stands apart.

I know that you would like to continue linking them as a negro jeckyl and hyde. Nice Obama... BAD REVEREND... same NEGRO. I know that you would like these two different human beings to be intertwined. I know you want to castigate Obama for of all things attending a black church whose minister was internationally renowned. I know that you want to claim that Obama is a card-carrying member of the UPPITY NEGRO SOCIETY. I know how important it is that you continue to defend this white nation from a Dark Influence.

You are a true patriot! Keep up the good work!

It seems to me that if the primary calendar wasn't fixed so that Hillary would have all the advantages and New Jersey and California went later in the season, Hillary would not even have the big state argument to fall back on.

avatar

Hey goatlife, the only important news of the day is that the congressional superdelegates have already sewn up the race for Obama, and it's all over but the crying.

However, they are considerate enough to the electorate not to add their voices to the nominating campaign until the primary races are done. So by all means trot out all of the faux-punditry but it doesn't mean a hill of beans. Because the nominee is nominated on delegates, not news articles.

Obama's judgement and credibility was absolutely destroyed yesterday.

That is the point of the articles.

My goodmess, getting thru the kool aid fog is ridiculous.

Get real people.

Wow.

Goatlife's got brain-freeze!

avatar

er, that comment of mine was meant for goatlife, Opus.

avatar

so riddle me this, Batman, how come Obama is still trotting out a larger number of superdelegates, people who ought to KNOW BETTER and whose political survival is dependent upon the viability of their candidate?

My goodmess

LOL.

Goodun.

Dear Gotalife:
See my comments in CAPS in your text.

"Now, after Obama's uncategorical repudiation yesterday of the man who presided at his wedding and the baptism of his daughters, voters and other political observers will inevitably wonder what took so long - and how Obama could have misjudged someone to whom he was
very close. THEY WEREN'T EVER CLOSE EXCEPT DURING THE WEDDING AND BAPTISMS AND OCCASIONALLY IN THE BEGINNING DURING PRAYER SESSIONS. OBAMA DID NOT ATTEND SERVICES REGULARLY, AND WRIGHT DIDN'T REGULARLY RANT AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT. SOMETIMES HIS RANTS WERE FAIRLY TAME AND FORGIVABLE. REMEMBER, OBAMA WASN'T THROUGHOUT THOSE 20 YEARS THINKING OF HIS PASTOR AS A POTENTIAL POLITICAL LIABILITY; HE WAS THINKING OF HIM AS HIS PASTOR AND THE PASTOR OF SOME 6,000 OTHER PEOPLE, SOME OF WHICH WERE NOTABLE THEOLOGIANS FROM THE U. OF CHICAGO. IN BRIEF, HIS RELATIONSHIP JUST WASN'T AS CLOSE AS YOU AND THE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MAKE POLITICAL CAPITAL OVER THIS ARE SAYING, AND WRIGHT JUST WASN'T AS OBJECTIONABLE IN OBAMA'S PRESENCE AS THE RELATIVELY SMALL COLLECTION OF SOUNDBITES AND HIS RECENT PERFORMANCE SUGGEST.

Jimmy Carter: Obama has
been 'really damaged'

Even former President Jimmy Carter, who normally avoids commenting on the presidential race, told CNN that Wright had "really been damaging" to Obama's presidential campaign. AS CHENEY FAMOUSLY SAID, "SO?" HE WAS DAMAGED INITIALLY WHEN THE FIRST SOUNDBITES WERE POUNDED INTO AMERICANS, AND HE RECOVERED BEAUTIFULLY IN HIS SPEECH ON RACE. IF YOU LISTEN TO OBAMA'S ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ABOUT WRIGHT YESTERDAY, I THINK YOU'LL SEE A BRILLIANT, THOUGHTFUL AND GENUINE PERSON GIVING HIS HONEST REFLECTIONS.

Politics as usual: Obama was forced to throw Wright under the bus HE SAID HE WAS ANGRY AT WRIGHT FOR VIOLATING THE STANDARDS OF HIS CAMPAIGN DESPITE HAVING PLEDGED BEFORE THE CAMPAIGN STARTED TO SUPPORT OBAMA. HE'S UNDERMINING THE CAMPAIGN BY SUGGESTING THAT THE ONLY REASON OBAMA CRITICIZED WRIGHT'S INFLAMMATORY STATEMENTS IS THAT OBAMA IS A POLITICIAN, MEANING THAT OBAMS IS LYING TO THE WORLD ABOUT WHAT HE REALLY FEELS. OBAMA IS ANGRY AT THIS MAN WHO NOW SEEMS NOT ONLY CRAZY IN SOME OF HIS OPINIONS BUT ALSO DETERMINED TO THROW OBAMA UNDER THE BUS, TO OPPOSE HIM AND DEGRADE HIM AS A LIAR.

Obama's struggle to find the right tone -- six weeks ago he said he couldn't disown the pastor he's known for 20 years -- also reflects a striking difference in how Democratic voters view the controversy and its proper handling. AGAIN, THIS PAST WEEKEND, WRIGHT ACCUSED OBAMA OF LYING ABOUT HIS VIEW OF WRIGHT'S INFLAMMATORY STATEMENTS.

Obama's remarks
open a 'can of worms'

When Obama says he is "offended" by Wright's latest comments -- given in defense against an orchestrated assault on his character and on his ministry -- he's opening up a can of worms. I DON'T GET YOUR POINT HERE.

Why'd Obama join Trinity
in the first place?

The question is worth revisiting now that his ex-pastor is threatening his entire campaign.

Wright has a right to
defend his reputation

" How dare someone who has been so deftly caricatured by the media try to defend himself and show that there is more to him, his life and his ministry than fits into a video clip on YouTube." AGAIN, OBAMA'S REACTION IS NOT AGAINST WRIGHT'S DEFENSE OF HIS REPUTATION. IT'S AGAINST WRIGHT'S ASSAULT ON OBAMA'S CHARACTER AND, THEREFORE, THE ENTIRE CAMPAIGN, WHICH INCLUDES MILLIONS OF VOTERS WHO THINK HE IS IMPORTANT.

SO?

Obama is a sure loser. Period.

Well, well, well, the trolls are ignoring his melt downs, terrible judgement, no credibility, playing the race card, corrupt and he is just another lying, rookie, politician.

Go figure.

Amazing.

Obama is a sure loser. Period.

avatar

and what are you ignoring when it comes to your candidate of choise? I will never forget Clinton coming out publicly for this illegal war. She panders, she's got what...$2.3 billion in earmarks. She's funded by the pharmaceutical, oil and insurance companies. If she gets in, what is the likelihood of ANY change in those areas with someone who is indebted to them?
Sigh.
I guess I have as much potential of changing your mind as you do mine.
Sad really.

Obama is a sure loser. Period.

Do you have this plastered on all the walls of your house?

And he won't even engage in discussion on the original post or the comments. Well, I guess it was a worth a try to see if gotalife could engage in something beyond the one-line troll hits. At least now I know it's not possible to have a discussion. Over and out, gotalife.

Just in, goaty:

"The Obama campaign's super-delegate offensive is continuing with their third Congressional endorsement of the day, Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA)."

If Obama keeps losing like this, I don't know what I'll do.

After all of this English... what exactly is Obama losing? To the best of my knowledge, he is winning most of everything against Hillary... did I miss something?

avatar

Ya gotta admit, Gotnolife's always good for a laugh.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think Obama might just have a chance. This morning, I decided to donate $50 to his campaign. Hey, none of us want a reversal of Roe v. Wade, drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge, or the privatization of social security. Hillary and Bqarack (Obama) supporters -- we're all on the same team. Right?

Gotalife is a loser...yeah, huh.
