Obama: Get that new ad out in PA now!
Thanks to news reports and to our fellow TPM blogger, observer2, we are able to see and listen to Obama's response to Clinton/McCain about his so-called "small town elitist" remarks. And what a powerful response it is!
If he put together an ad based on this clip and ran it all over PA this week, he'd turn this issue on its head! I loved it:

I thought the same thing! Forget about backing away from these comments or trying to make nice to people.
Obama's first response on Friday is what should be all over the TV.
It showed him being strong and fighting for the middle-class. He was mad, not so mad as to become petty. Just enough to make another elegant speech on why he should be president.
If there are any Obama staffers checking any of this out, one suggestion: Do not put the Cafferty quote about al quaeda in the response. We, the middle class, do not like being compared to terrorists!

Yup, there's the makings of a great ad in there that could defuse this. Every time HRC says "Obama says Americans are bitter!", people who aren't blog junkies (I need help!) will think of that ad and say, "Oh yeah, the one where he says we're mad about the economy".

Look at the people behind Obama in that clip. They're not as glossy as the people in that gorgeous "Yes, We Can" video. There's some roughness there. Some extra weight. Some signs of a hard life. But that's the strong, tenacious America I love right there, entitled to be bitter about what's been going down, and ready for new, serious leadership, but skeptical because they've been betrayed so often. The candidate who can earn their trust and then deliver will change the country and the planet.
And even though I know it's a hand-picked crowd, I think Obama actually made his point stick.
Yes, I want that clip on the air, over and over.
