Me, Bill Ayers & Guilt by Association

avatar

It was the summer of 1972. I was working retail to pay for college. An FBI agent entered the store and flipped his badge at the boss. They talked in hushed tones. The FBI wanted to use a second-floor office for a stakeout. I later learned that they had a tip that Bill Ayers was going to visit a building across the street and they were trying to nab him. The stakeout room was also the place where I ate my bag lunch. So on this particular day I ate my peanut butter & jelly while a GMan peered through venetian blinds with binoculars.

So the question is this: am I guilty by association for the many sins of the FBI during the Hoover Era because I ate lunch in the same room with an agent who was staking out Bill Ayers?

Guilty, guilty, guilty, are you kidding.

Wow, I hadn't thought about this. There goes my future career in politics. A part of my salary has been paid by grants from the Woods Fund for years -- the foundation whose board Obama sat on with Ayers. I am sure they are shocked to learn what radicals they are. (I will have to screen the foundations I get my pitiful salary from better in the future.)

Honestly, this is the kind of criteria by which the lunatic fringe of the right wing brands us all commies. It would be funny if it weren't so serious.

This has been said before, but shame on Hillary Clinton for using this kind of appalling tactic, which seriously degrades American politics. This is totally unacceptable.

I thought that Obama's response, about his relationship with the ultraconservative Sen. Tom Coburn, was exactly the right type of ridicule that this crap deserves.

(and on a side note, although I have always kind of liked Stephanopoulos, perhaps because I used to kind of like the Clintons, I am now left to think that this was an attempt to help Hillary dirty up Obama. I can't really see any other reason for the kind of questions he asked at the debate. I am not usually a trasher of the MSM, and I have not been negative of Stephanopoulos, but really, this was a serious misuse of the power of journalism.)

You can't be too careful, Ann. If you're getting paid with grant money from a foundation that supports a "terrorist" then you know what that says about you. Kind of sends a chill down the spine, doesn't it?

As for Stephanopoulos, I think he suffers from a complex common to former Democratic staffers like Russert and Matthews who aspire to journalism. They think they need to establish their cred as independent journalists by beating up on Democrats at every opportunity. Their biggest fear is being accused of "liberal bias" so they go far overboard the other way.

Well, ME (who ate a pb & jelly sand) no. You didn't have anything to do with Ayers. Obama did. Obama allowed MR. AYERS (terrorist) to host a fundraiser at his own home. Obama choose to attend, knowing the guy was who he was. Bad judgment. Bad judgment to serve on the Woods Board with a known terrorist. Bad judgment to have questionable deals with Rezko who is getting funds from Lebanon. Bad judgment to hang out with Wright (loves like an uncle) for 20 years. And to hang out with "godfather" Emil Jones. But then, if you don't hand out with the corrupt guys in Chicago you're never going to get made into a Senator-- or so it seems. I've lived here for 30 years. Obama isn't Mother Theresa. He's their front man. He does their bidding. If you haven't figured that out yet, I give up on you. These are people with Marxist ideas--black supremacy ideas. They don't want even Steven. They want blacks to control whites. Got that whitie?

Sorry, bevv, but this is going to have to be our last communication. If my liberal friends apply your formula of guilt by association, they will conclude that I am also a right wing loony racist bigot if I continue to associate with you. Got that?
