Is There an Avatar Stork?

Tired of living your TPM life in the shadows? Tired of being one of hundreds of grey-as-a-ghost lurkers with no color, no clever identity? It doesn't have to be that way!

How to make an avatar:

1) click on the "edit" following "profile" at the top of this page
2) scroll down to "photo"
3) click "browse" to find the jpeg file you have pirated from some other website (by right-clicking on your image of choice and choosing "save as image" on most PCs)
4) click on your saved image file
5) hit the "save" button at the bottom of the page.

It's that easy! Don't feel avatar-deficient any longer! Power to the Avatars!

Or, you could just use a digital camera like you and I did. ;)

Doesn't it have to be a photo no wider than 64 pixels? Or does it automatically scale?

Didn't scale. Kept getting divide-by-zero error even after resizing. Not sure why.

Thanks, Astral, for trying to bring us backward souls into the age of avatars.

I had to use three different image editors and save files multiple times. First three uploads appeared to meet specs but I kept getting a divide by zero error when I clicked save.

I worried this might bring down TPM, halt the Democratic campaign and hand the White House to the Republicans. Dividing by zero is what they do best, at least for deficits.

Don't know why the last upload succeeded.

BTW, I bear a striking resemblance to the default image anyhow.

Actually, I used a scanner, but I figured that anyone who knows how to use a scanner or digital camera already knows how to do this. Just keeping things simple for this go-round.

*sigh* I wish my old gravatar had transferred better. I couldn't retrieve it from the file but it was showing up on one blog I sometimes post comments on and I got it from there dragged the picture to my desktop and then to the box (I'm on a .mac and you can drag that stuff around)

I guess I could find the original picture on google.

By the way, Opus Hussein X - you do have the world's most awesome gravatar.
