I hope we learned from 2004 Election
I have just watched the Movie So Goes the Nation! About the 2004 election. I don't think that us dem's have learned anything,we are never on message. The Democrats donot repeat the same message over and over like the Right- Wing does. This Obama and the Terrorists thing, is the same message they conveyed about Sen. Kerry soft on terror. So Sen Obama must watch this movie, and learn that whatever McCain says about him or his so-called ties, Obama hits back. The attack ad's are going to be relentless, they have Fox News on there side, Fair&Balanced You got to be kidding! The Democratic Party must not let the Republican Party frame our message ,we dem's must get out loud and clear, over&over. Not this time!

How about:
"McCain agrees with Bin Laden and Al-Quaeda about the war. They have the same vision for America:

"Not this time" is exactly what we said in 2004. And even before that, Democrats said we'd never ever let anyone not count FL again. But that of course was before we got drunk on change and high on hope.

I gave up drinking in 1989.
I haven't been hopeful, really, since 1999.
So stuff a sock in it. You're fucking boring.

Now let's think about how Kerry couldn't figure out how to fight back in 2004. His problem began before the attacks began. Kerry came to fame back in the Vietnam war when he turned in his medals to protest the war. In doing this he was courageous as well as right. Yet when he became a Presidential candidate he re-positioned himself as a war hawk. Indeed, his principal criticism of Bush was that Bush was half-hearted in prosecuting the war. Kerry wanted to increase troop levels to escalate the war and ensure an American "victory." So, he ran from his true Vietnam record before the Republicans began to Swift boat him. If he had run as an anti-War candidate in 2004 he could have embraced his true Vietnam record as something that was in tune with the anti-war sentiments of the rank and file of the party. Instead he positioned himself as more war like than Bush. He didn't know which way he was heading. How could he fight back against the Swift boaters when he himself couldn't have had his heart in it? Mr Warmonger with the anti-war history. He was a walking contradiction, and the world perceived this without the Republicans pointing it out.

We're off to a great start! We told the 2.3 million voters in Florida (of all states) and Michigan to pound sand--their votes don't count! How absolutely crazy is that?!? Now, Obama, the likely nominee is the candidate that didn't even support a revote in Florida. Sean Hannity et al are already all over him. He has not been able to beat Hillary in a SINGLE big state (except Illinois) despite a massive money advantage and a national media that are totally enamoured of him. Now, by his own doing, his image as an aloof, elite, snobby liberal that said (in 2004) Kerry's Iraq war vote didn't bother him because "he's not sure how he would have voted." I'm afraid we chose wrong folks...

You Clintonistas always forget that Hillary was against FL and MI delegates being seated prior to Super Tuesday. You put her on this high horse as an advocate for the FL and MI voters, when she only came to their defense after she was losing and needed to change the rules mid-game. Obama never opposed any FL revote. He said over and over and over again that he would follow the Democratic party's rules and decisions. How refreshing, in comparison to Clinton. The ONLY area he's waffled on that is in MI, since his name wasn't even on the ballot. His campaign has stated that they would only support a fair resolution because of such. Apparently you're following the Clinton campaign code, but I'm sorry. Saying something doesn't make it true.

Obamaites talk about Florida and fall back on the "rules rules rules" but then don't want the superdelgates to vote using their judgment...as the rules would have it...hmm...
Anyway, it looks like Obama is the favorite for the nomination... All I'm saying is it's too bad the Democrats are nominating a candidate who did not favor at least a revote in Florida or Michigan (there were plenty of offers to make it happen, Obama Campaign and Dean wanted it to die and it did).
Will be tough for Obama to win Florida, Ohio, Penn, in November. How does a Dem win the WH without those? Sorry, but his big win in the Wyoming caucus won't be enough.

You idiots -
Do you have any idea what turnout was in '04?
God - you can't tell the difference between '04 and now? Did '06 not register with y'all?
There is absolutely no comparison. In the first place, the Republican machine is broken - no Tom Delay money. No Karl Rove.
The war is so unpopular that it's unpopularity is only capped by Bush's all time record unpopularity.
This is a whole different election season. No comparison between candidates. Kerry was the fucking DLC candidate and he ran a flawless Clinton-style campaign. Obama runs an entirely different kind of campaign and is not the DLC candidate - that would be Hillary.
Jesus fucking Christ.

I don't mean to harsh on you, but what we should have learned from '04 is that if we keep running the same Republican Lite candidate in a Clinton-style campaign, we will lose just like we have twice.
The base it is too narrow - we have to expand and we have with Obama - turnout is at an all time high and if we can keep that going with Obama - '04 is a distant memory.
We are prepared for the Republicans. I'm locked and loaded and waiting. I am so not ascared!

Yes. Do you believe Obama's ability to communicate will help ensure 2004 doesnt repeat? Do you believe he can fight McCain without losing his message, and not pull punches as he has in the primary?

Here is my vision:
1. Obama stay on message. He stays clean, and
keeps inspiring the electorate.
2. The Dem 527's do what they can-hopefully they
will be less lame than they were in 2004.
3. We internet supporters be prepared to fight
the swift boaters with battle ships and lazer
guided bombs! If they go after Micthell-we
go after McCain's wife. Fire with fire!!
(We must also remember-Obama will essentially
be running against Fox News too-fulltime
coverage 24/7.)

"expand the base" hilarious to read this after what just happened in PA. Dude had infinite money to spend and 6 weeks and couldn't deliver. Of course the race tightened from when she led by 22 points, but I would hope it would for his sake after out spending 3:1.
Just remember--your man that will "expand the base" and is in a totally different race than in 2004 could win a SINGLE big state. Not a SINGLE big state (except Illinois...)...pretty funny how you all act like he's so transformational. Naive fools.
