Hillary Found Guilty
It is interesting the things that the political season can throw and how they can cloud our thoughts and judgements. Hillary's camp is now reported to be going after Obama again on the Wright issue. I find it strange that Hillary does not realise that if Obama is guilty by association, so is she.
By her actions and speeches she is implying that Obama is guilty of supporting the nonsense which his pastor spouted or even believed. She thinks that because he worshipped at that church for the past 20 years that he endorses every thought and word issued by his pastor but why should she think like that?
Am I to believe that the current white generation in the US is guilty by association for the deeds of their foreparents during the days of slavery? Should they then disown their family? Should I also believe that current German generations are guilty by association for the horrendous acts of the holocaust? Should they too disown their familoies and leave Germany? Should we believe that because my grandparents were active members of the KKK that I should be held accountable and guilty just because of their association? Should I leave my parents home and walk away from my family? I think not.
If the above were true then no generation would ever be free from the acts of past generations. We cannot live in that mode. If so, we would have to actively consider reparations to all blacks who were a part of the slave trade by association. We would have to be continually repaying the jews for the acts of the holocaust etc. etc.
So if Hillary wants to destroy Obama based on his association with the pastor, then she is also guilty simply by being white and believedly a supporter of slavery by association. Should we expect her to disown her family and walk away from them? Should we hold her feet to the flames for what her foreparents believed and practiced? Should we expect her to denounce them publicly? Makes no sense to me.. really.

By Jove, I think you've got it.
You've pointed out the paradox.

This is the real "paradox." Supporters of a campaign that's supposed to stand for new politics and the higher road constantly, on a daily basis, smears their opponent with things like this and then cries, "WHY?"

There Don, I think you've actually nailed it down pretty well. Which is it? A high road? Or Business as usualy. To me I think the Obama campaign took a page out of the Bush campaigns by having the Candidate basically stay out of the fray and only let the surrogates do the pounding. Its worked for him so...As a Politial Strategy it has merits.
The problem arises when the rubber hits the road and it turns out that people see nothing but the same ole , same ole.

I am not so sure that Obama sends his surrogates out to do the pounding. Where the big issues are concerned, Obama has actually gone out and done his own defense. As a matter of fact only recently Rove was smacking Obama for not allowing the surrogates to do the talking on the issues. Rove says Obama is being arrogant by running to the front of the class to defend his positions.
I do not think you can compare his approach with Bush's whatsoever. You are talking chalk and cheese here.
Also, the rubber has already hit the road, he has adequately defended just about every attack sent his way from both Hillary and McCain. What is more he has McCain back-peddling on the 100 year in Iraq issue, as well as biting his lips on the economy and health care.
I am not sure what to say about Hillary right now.. so I leave that alone... but you do know that she is fumbling around in the dark right now... can't find a shred of momentum... can't find a topic that can last more than a soundbite.
Obama's rubber has hit the road and its making great traction.. thank you!!

Hillary, (in this primary race) has a role not unlike the parent of a spoiled child. When other
democrats or Obama supporters cry racism at every
jucture, a certain amount of weight is carried by the accusations because we know that Hillary is not racist. Of course, all of this bellyaching and threats to hold our breath until
we get our way will be of no use in the real world
which is the general election. Then when Obama loses. we will switch to"victim" mode.
