Flag Pins

avatar

Why couldn't Obama just have said:

Everyone has their own way of displaying patriotism, and all of it is legitimate. My wearing a flag pin under pressure would not be a display of my patriotism, it would just be a demonstration of my doing what is politically expedient. I don't do that. And I don't discount the manners in which Americans display their patriotism.  I am running for president, isn't this highest form of patriotism?

It was so sad to watch Obama fumble around on this most basic of questions, a question he must have had a long time to think about. I've always thought his refusal to wear a flag pin was a noble gesture but a completely needless liability to bring on himself. In any case, if he has a principled reason for not wearing one, he really should have just come out and said plainly what it is! Instead of hemming and hawing about what is good about America...

I think his whole thing on the Flag Pin is that, "he doesnt give a f***, and neither should you". I thought the same as you all when I originally read about it months and months ago. And really....I dont give a shit.

Maybe what he is saying is working in some twisted manner. Im over them bringing it up, Im over them asking about it.

Its trivial.
And I think he is really giving a trivial answer to it because of that. One of those "You ask me something stupid, im going to give you a stupid answer." Its not the smartest thing to do....EVER......but some things are just like "f*** it".

America needs to grow up. Too many damn teenagers in grown up bodies around here.

unfortunately, his response was not a forthright "this is trivial" sort of answer

He's said exactly that so many times, and it hasn't stuck, so he tried a new approach tonight.

I have a lapel U.S. flag pin.

Sent to me by none other that President Richard M. Nixon.

Embossed with the words, "Peace with Honor."

I proudly and patriotically wear it.

Upside down.
