While Obama claims to reject the message of hate at his church by his friend and pastor, he has maintained this friendship, this church membership, and given it money for 20 years. When confronted about the hate he initially and repeatedly denied it, then claimed he hadn't heard it, and then that he only recently learned about it. Now, he admits he heard it. Even this admission is somewhat vague about just what he heard as several people note he wasn't attending services on several notable occasions that hate-filled sermons were delivered. Thus, these hate-filled messages were either repeated at other times when Obama was present or there are other hate-filled messages that his is aluding to.

In any case, Obama continues to be a member and supporter of a church that professes to say "God Damn America" and refer to the country as "United States of White America" and "United States of KKK America." Further, this church claims that HIV was created by the U.S. to wage genocide on people of color. That any American could hold such views of our country is distrubing and that a candidate for the presidency would be a member of a church holding these views is beyond contempt.

I just listened to Juan Williams, NPR and Fox News commentor, addressing the continued controversy involving Rev. Wright. Williams offered very blunt criticism that Obama cannot simply play the blame game by blaming Whites, Clinton, and the media for his continued problems with Rev. Wright and Trinity Church.

Obama has no experience qualifying him to be president. The subject links at right explore many of the areas and examples showing Obama's inexperience. A few key points:

* He is a neophyte U.S. Senator, and one in name only. He has claimed, falsely as it turned out, credit for a number of pieces of legislation that he had little or no role in. Further, although he is chair of a subcommittee with responsibility for European affairs, NATO, and the war in Afghanistan, he never once held a meeting. When pressed, he explained that he was too busy campaigning for president.
* His claim to leadership experience, by his own admission, for example, rests solely on his current campaign for president.
* His foreign policy experience is based on his three week visit to Pakistan as a college student and a 2002 speech against the Iraq war.
* He claims exclusive credit for opposing the war in Iraq yet, once in the Senate, he voted again and again to continue the war.
* His claimed success in the Illinois State Senate turns out to be spoonfed bills to walk through for Emil Jones and around 130 present votes that avoided making tough decisions.

Obama's campaign is riddled with lies, misstatements, and omissions. Time and again he says one thing, then when faced with criticism, rephrases and deflects, and later, when documentation, often in his own words shows the lies, he will offer new statements and disclosures. It is very difficult to know what the truth is in Obama's statements. He's even suggested on at least one occasion that it's all just words and not really all that important.

One comes to expect candidates to pander a bit by saying one thing to one audience and then saying something different to another. Occasionally they are even taken to task for their inconsistencies. But to lie and treat the truth as optional is impossible to accept, especially in a potential president.

The links at the right offer my casual attempt to document these lies, misstatements, and omissions.

Memories of Obama's recent racial stereotype of the 'typical White person' are still fresh. Add to this now his view of the 'typical small town person.' Obama is quoted as disparaging residents of small towns in Pennsylvania as being “like a lot of small towns in the Midwest” where “it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

So, how should one interpret this latest disrepecting remark? Is this intended to gain votes in Pennsylvania and elsewhere? I doubt it will win him any votes.

Obama is unapologetic, even arrogant in his racism and hate. Recalling his earlier dissing of voters in Florida and Michigan one has to wonder what groups of Americans he really respects?

Update 8 p.m. Eastern: I hear Obama is now going to talk about this directly later tonight in Indiana. Will he apologize? Will he explain himself? Will he address this directly or try to deflect everything? Hearing the harsh commentary on all of the new channels tonight, he's got some serious damage control to do.

Personally, I think this effort will be too little, too late. He's yet to apologize for his 20-year association with hate and racism that he even takes his daughters to hear. He has yet to apologize for his 'typical White person' comments. Obama's defined himself quite clearly with his comments and association with hate and racism.

An apology will be a start but will he offer one?

Update 10 p.m. Eastern: No apology. Good attempt on Obama's part to try explaining away his comment but he's simply twisting his words to deflect. He did not accurately relate what he said. He needs to be clearer about what he actually said in San Francisco. It's on tape and the comparison will only make him look even less credible and honest. He needs to make a clear apology. Anything short of that won't work.

"Instead of apologizing for offending small town America, Sen. Obama chose to repeat and embrace the comments he made earlier this week," Singer wrote in a statement. "It's unfortunate that Sen. Obama didn't say he was sorry for what he said. Americans are tired of a President who looks down on them -- they want a President who will stand up for them for a change. The Americans who live in small towns are optimistic, hardworking and resilient. They deserve a president who will respect them."

As has McCain's spokesman, Tucker Bounds.

"Instead of apologizing to small town Americans for dismissing their values, Barack Obama arrogantly tried to spin his way out of his outrageous San Francisco remarks. Only an elitist who attributes religious faith and gun ownership to bitterness would think that tax cuts for the rich include families who make $75,000 per year. Only an elitist would say that people vote their values only out of frustration. Barack Obama thinks he knows your hopes and fears better than you do. You can't be more out of touch than that."

Another Update: How about re-reading Obama's comment? "...it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Does this mean that Obama instead advocates that they release their bitterness and

a) give up their guns,
b) give up their religion,
c) stop being racist,
d) embrace illegal immigration, and
e) embrace free trade?

I thought he was recently campaigning to say he wasn't really against guns as he was previously. And does he really see religion only for bitterness? And does he really see small town people as racist or just what does he mean by "antipathy to people who aren't like them?" Plus, does this mean he now supports NAFTA?

Obama, the empty suit, if on the top of the ticket, means I and others over age 50 vote McCain. Outside of the Obana's natural African American community, traditional have DEMS voted for Clinton. Even with the Supremes aging, I'm far more conservative and lost my idealism. I can live with state regulated abortion, wiretaps of bad guys, and more liberal gun laws (DC) so other than scum can defend themselves. Obama will lose in November if at the top of the ticket. It's George McGovern (1972) all over again. Hillary 2010 then.

Obama's response to the economic slowdown or recession we are now in is to slap taxpayers with a large tax increase. Obama wants to increase capital gains tax from today's 10% to at least 25%! In the interview with CNBC today, he suggested a upward limit around 28%. As the transcript reports, Obama is clear in acknowledging that that this will impact over 100 million Americans. He also explained plans to raise the marginal tax rate working Americans pay to 39% on folks making $75,000 or more income.

Obama observes that his opponents "would like to paint me as this wooly-eyed, you know, liberal or wild-eyed..." His defense to this is "I'm not going to [be] making these decisions based on ideology. I am not a dogmatist."

Now, I have not yet read the entire transcript, but the first part is very threatening to working Americans and will, if implemented, leave us much poorer and less able to meet the higher costs we are seeing for our day-to-day necessities. Outrageous!

Remember what happened to the last candidate who called for tax increases? Anyone thinking Obama's double-digit tax increase plans won't impact his electability among working Americans must not themselves be a taxpayer.
