Fake gaffe courtesy from AP rightwing hacks

avatar

Just another manufactured "gaffe" from the rightwing media:

Interestingly the original AP piece is from Liz Sidoti, apparently a McCain shill, who covered up McCain's real response to Bitch-Gate, where he said "excellent question" when asked "how do we beat the bitch":

In a February 26 article on Sen. John McCain's apology for radio host Bill Cunningham's recent comments at a McCain campaign event in Ohio, Associated Press reporter Liz Sidoti wrote: "Last fall, McCain faced criticism for initially not repudiating a voter in South Carolina who called [Sen. Hillary Rodham] Clinton a 'bitch.' McCain chuckled in response to the voter's question, but didn't embrace the epithet." Sidoti further reported: "A few minutes later, [McCain] said he respected Clinton, a New York senator and colleague." That incident took place during a campaign event in Hilton Head, South Carolina, in which a questioner asked McCain: "How do we beat the bitch?" However, Sidoti made no mention of the fact that McCain first called the question "excellent" and then pointed to a Rasmussen poll that he said showed him beating Clinton in a head-to-head matchup before saying, "I respect Senator Clinton. I respect anyone who gets the nomination of the Democrat [sic] Party." In fact, McCain's first response to the question was: "May I give ... the translation?" He then added: "But that's an excellent question," before mentioning the Rasmussen poll. Only then did McCain state that he had "respect" for Clinton.

That's interesting. So McCain's ugly response is deliberately buried, while Obama's usual stump speech is twisted less than 48 hours prior to an election to make a "gaffe". And this woman recently wrote an article with Nedra Pickler, infamous rightwing troll of the AP.

More fake gaffism from rightwing hacks, this time ABCNews:

Is McCain To Old to be President? Obama Doesn't Think So

April 20, 2008 11:02 PM

ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports: If elected president, Sen. John McCain would be 72 when he first takes the oath of office. No president has been older at his first inauguration.

Recently Congressman Jack Murtha, a Clinton supporter, was critical of McCain's age, himself being in a position to speak at age 75.

"This one guy running is about as old as me," Murtha said. "It's no old man’s job."

DNC Chairman Howard Dean said that in focus groups swing voters were bringing up McCain's age as a worry, unprompted.

What does Barack Obama think? At a rally in Scranton a voter interrupted his speech to find out.

"I respect John McCain, I respect his service," Obama said, reciting a typical line from his stump speech. "But John McCain –-"

Then a wayward voice called out from the crowd attempting to finish Obama’s line for him: "Is too old!" a man shouted.

Obama responded saying, "No, no. That’s not the problem. There are a lot of wise people who –- the problem is he is running for George Bush’s third term."

At 46, Obama is the youngest of the three candidates left in the race.

This time, his carefulness not to bash McCain over his age, is spun into some kind of endorsement that the age thing is not important, ie. ABC's intention.
