Election Manipulaiton - Not just for the "Right" anymore!
http://southernstudies.org/facingsouth/2008/04/facing-south-exclusive-dc-nonprofit.asp
In regards to the NC Robo-Calls and their possible intent, I'd like to share an experience I had:
I met a young and aggressive Republican lawyer in Richmond, VA at a wedding a few years
back and after a few drinks he started bragging about all of the
"funny" tactics he has helped with for the GOP over the years.
- Posting flyers in black neighborhoods with
- The wrong date for the election
- The wrong polling locations
- Lies that voters needed Photo ID cards
- Lies that voters could not vote if they had
He started to talk more about mailings they sent people to confuse them about registrations and I couldn't take it anymore. I laid into him pretty good and told him if I ever saw him again, I'd kick the living shit out of him. Not just for his tactics but for how proud he was of his overt criminality and racism.
Even if Hillary Clinton is not directly associated with this group, I have to no longer support John Podesta and the Center for America Progress unless they renounce these tactics and end these activities for they have sunk to the ugliest levels of political actions.

It really is pretty despicable.

DO ROBOT CALLERS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEPEOPLE?
BEST ADVICE: When pesky robots call tell them you want to borrow money. They'll never call back.
(insert suicidal Obama supporter wailing here)

Sorry I chopped off my own line:

What are the chances that the MSM is going to pick up on this?

Underhanded tactics that go on behind the scenes is unfortunate but what's going on directly in front of us on the MSM is worse.
I just heard Joe Watkins on MSNBC commenting on Obama:
"Whites are running from him in droves."
I think that's one of the most blatant examples of elevating the race issue I've heard.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I agree with you. Most instances of racism today are based on somewhat subtle stereotypes and generalizations these days rather than overt attacks and the MSM is going crazy this election season with all of the polling "internals" showing what Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Jews, Catholics are going to do in the fall.
We can't come together if we can't stop segmenting ourselves into every possible sub group.

That's what justifies Republican (and now Democratic) vote-suppressors in targeting African-Americans and Latinos/as for vote suppression. "I'm not racist, but ... it helps my candidate to stop those people from voting, because they vote for the other guy."

Yeah, Joe Watkins is a real piece of RNC dirt. He's been making wild statements like this for a long time. I first saw him when the Rev. controvery erupted, and MSNBC introduced him as a political something-or-other and an ordained minister. After hearing him a couple times, I finally Googled him and found he's been joined at the hip with the Bush dynasty for a long time. Knowing that, now does it make sense that he's playing the race card? Daily?

Racism and sexism are part of the campaign dynamics because of how minor female and black candidates have been in presidential races in the past. This does not excuse people from posing as bonafide government officials and invading the space of the individual voter. From what I understand, North Carolina state law is very severe on this kind of tactic. Whether it be Obama's McCain's or Clinton's campaign which is responsible, they risk a huge setback if caught.
