Dear Mr. Dean: We’ve Been Hoodwinked!!

Dear Mr. Dean:

We’ve Been Hoodwinked!!

Early last fall, when the presidential campaign season started kicking into high gear, I would on occasion divert my attention from my number one pastime - NCAA College Football - to watch media coverage of the candidates and their respective campaigns. At that time, my media of choice was MSNBC.

Why MSNBC? Well, you had folks like Chris Matthews and his show “Hardball” - a show where Matthews had developed a reputation for pulling in politicos and getting in their face with tough questions. So, it was without much thought at the time when I watched Chris Matthews bash Hillary. After all, Hillary was the “front-runner” for the democratic nomination and front-runners always get the most attention. My occasional journeys to other media sources, e.g., CNN, failed to lend an impression of anything out of the ordinary.

But, as autumn gave way to early winter, it became starkly apparent that the Hillary-bashing had taken on a life of its own in the main stream media (MSM). This was no longer a status quo bashing of the front-runner, but a wide spread, and growing, effort of the MSN to deliver as much negative coverage of Hillary Clinton as could be found. The presidential debates were dissected, and the most marginal nuances cast in a light of being great gaffs by Hillary, or great points made by Obama. The other democratic candidates were being given fringe coverage, which is in large part why the other candidates got very little traction in the primaries and caucuses soon to come. The majority of the MSM’s coverage was being devoted to Hillary and Obama. In Hillary’s case, uniformly negative, and in Obama’s case, uniformly positive.

I am not sure exactly when it suddenly dawned on me that the MSM truly hate[d] Hillary Clinton. Perhaps a clue should have been when John King, of CNN, made a quip about how bad the Bill Clinton administration had treated the MSM (King’s statement being given in the context of a discussion of Hillary’s inaccessibility to the MSM). Perhaps it was when I began seeing a pattern on Hardball where Chris Matthews would have the same guest appear on his show time-after-time. You know the ones - Rachel Maddow, Eugene Robinson, David Shuster, Andrea Mitchell, Jonathan Alter, and the lists goes on. All of the latter referenced Hardball guests being Hillary bashers, or if not outright Hillary bashers, at a minimum Obama supporters. The point is, at some point I got the distinct impression that I was watching reruns of Hardball, notwithstanding that the little blip on the TV screen said “LIVE”. Bash Hillary, praise Obama, trash-talk all republicans, day in, and day out.

Over the winter months, and now into early Spring, it has become starkly apparent that the MSM has become an Obama-nite, and that the MSM is determined to promote Obama as being incapable of doing any wrong, regardless of how media worthy an issue might be were the issue relevant to another candidate. Take, e.g., Rezko. Rezko is an issue that for any candidate other than Obama would be a source of near-constant fodder for discussion by TV pundits. I first heard of Rezko when Hillary mentioned him in a debate last fall, and after a little research, saw that there was some coverage about Rezko months earlier, but only on a periphery. The MSM (Fox News strikingly being the exception at this point) is still by and large mum on Rezko. The MSM is mum on Rezko, despite the fact that we learned - over time - that Obama “hoodwinked” us on the extent of his dealings with Rezko.

Hoodwinked, you say. How so?

and it wasn't that perceptive the first time.

xyndau - speak for yourself, please.

The only hoodwinking going on is Hillary's campaign.

FACT: When anyone wants to do anything there is a reason...when they don’t there’s always an excuse, more delusion and another lie.

FACT: Currently dodging sniper fire, the tax dodging foundation(s), the phony compassion tears, made up health care story(s), and the latest bu$hification(s) [she was against it before he was]...it is clear that Senator Clinton is still a ‘sleep deprived’ and ‘misunderstood’ unapologetic serial liar.

QUESTION: Shouldn’t any governance be built NOT on ethnicity or gender, but...on truth, credibility and judgment...!?!?

Why address such a partisan paranoid letter to the chairman of the Democratic Party? Howard Dean doesn't control the news media. In fact Howard Dean's influence with the media rivals mine.

If Senator Clinton wanted to be taken seriously, she should have take some care to speak truthfully. But, she didn't, so I no longer take her seriously. Apparently, an increasing number of voters have reached this same conclusion.

Bill pulled the race card in SC. Hillary endorsed John McCain over Obama. Bill went on Limbaugh's show on the day of the TX primary. Ferraro pulls the race card and the female victim card simultaneously. Hillary cozies up to Richard Mellon Scaife, a man who directly accused her of being complicit in the murder of Vince Foster. Hillary distributes an anti-Obama article from the American Spectator. And now Hillary and her supporters, including xyndau, blame her poor performance as a candidate on the dreaded "MSM".

Are the Clintons stealth Republican? Rove must be so proud.
