Clinton on Iran Attack "Obliterate Them"
Oh God.....
One day before Pennsylvania primary voters go to the polls, Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Barack Obama, D-Ill., spent the day trying to reach undecided voters, and rally their supporters to the polls.
On the eve of the Pennsylvania primary, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., tells "Good Morning America" she would "obliterate" Iran if they attacked Israel. (AP/ABC News)For the last six weeks they have battled and bickered and both have unleashed a barrage of negativity in television ads that have aired thousands of times in the state.
Clinton Ad Features Osama bin Laden
In an ad that began airing in Pennsylvania Monday morning, Clinton implies she is tougher than Obama.
"Who do you think has what it takes?" the narrator asks in an ad depicting historical images of crises that presidents have had to deal with: Osama bin Laden, headlines about the stock market crash of 1929, long gas lines from the 1970s oil-shocks, images of the Cold War, Hurricane Katrina and soldiers. It features the first image of Osama bin Laden to be used in a TV ad this political season.
"It's the toughest job in the world," says the ad's narrator. "You need to be ready for anything — especially now, with two wars, oil prices skyrocketing and an economy in crisis."
The ad quotes President Harry Truman's famous line: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen," — to cast Obama as complaining about last week's ABC News presidential debate.
Responding to the ad, Obama spokesman Bill Burton accused the New York senator of engaging in scare tactics.
Clinton on an Iran Attack: 'Obliterate Them'
Clinton further displayed tough talk in an interview airing on "Good Morning America" Tuesday. ABC News' Chris Cuomo asked Clinton what she would do if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons.
"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran," Clinton said. "In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

Obama, for his part, has to be worried about obliterating his repeated promise of a "new kind of politics." But he told ABC News' Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America" his attacks are necessary.
"You've always got to measure if somebody throws an elbow at you, and after three or four times of gettin' elbows in the ribs, you know, at what point do you sort of say, 'OK, you know, we, we, we've gotta put a stop to that'?" Obama said.

I understand wanting to take a stand, but this seems to be a pretty undiplomatic approach to a country whose cooperation we will inevitably need to push back on terrorism.

My minor is in political science and ive taken classes on Middle east politics, International politics, Islamic politics and a 1 time class on Iran and the nuclear situation. Now in every class I and others have argued about what Iran is doing and what it would or would not do with Nuclear weapons.
Iran would not nuke Israel, it is as simple as that.
Israel is home to some of the most holiest sites in Islam, why the hell would Iran blow them up? Iran is fully aware as well that Israel has a much better military then they do and unlike Iran, Israel has functional nuclear weapons. And if Iran ever did some how nuke Israel they know they are toast. Hell Iran would hate it if somehow terrorist nuked Israel since they know they would be blamed for it and then they would die.
Its just such a absurd statement its amazing.
There is no reason to escalate tough talk of this magnitude with Iran, if she knew anything about Iran she would know that tough talk like this only helps the leaders in Iran stay in power. Iran has a huge age gap because of the Iran/Iraq war, the younger age group is much more friendly to western culture and is highly critical to the people in power due to the crack down on various things and the limited free speech and the poor economy, but those in power use tough talk like this to get support to stay in power.

Besides, Israel has nukes so they could have their own nukefest with Iran without us. All she does is encourage Iran to raise the stakes and go make their own nuclear alliance with another nuclear power. So we nuke Iran and Russia nukes us? Cool. This is right back to the nuke nutty days of the 1950's.

Iran has already gotten more cozy with Russia because of recent events, Iran is not close to a nuclear weapon and the people of Iran do not want their government to make one because Iran is not doing so hot ATM economy wise and they are pissed at the government also for them doing stupid things like the Anti-Holocaust thing while Iranians want them to fix the damn economy.

Nuclear weapons used in any situation outside of self-defense would be considered a war crime under international law.
She's so eager to prove she's tough, she's suggesting annihilating 10s of millions of women, children, the elderly, the infirm, innocent civilians.....

Hillary Clinton is dangerous, is she for real? Who in their right minds talks like that? "Obliterate" Iran, she has escalated the verbal war against Iran more then even Bush has with Iran. This woman in UNFIT TO BE COMMANDER IN CHIEF. The simple fact that she can talk like that, she is also worse then John McCain, she will not only take us into war with Iran, she will take us into a nuclear war. She voted for the war in Iraq and claims she did not read the NIE correctly and thats why she voted the way she did. Then later she changes her story to say she voted for the resolution to put inspectors on the ground. Which one is it? War or Inspectors?..I strongly believe that she read the NIE report, she just wanted the war as much as Bush did. Remember her and Bush have a lot in common, Bush is the son of a President that tangled with Saddam and Hillary is the wife of a President that tangled with Saddam, they both had some stupid scores to settle and they used the American people to do it.

You guys are really grasping at straws today, huh?
Let me help everyone understand this conditional statement made by Hillary Clinton:
IF Iran nukes Israel, THEN the United States would nuke Iran.
The IF part of her statement is called the antecedent. The THEN part is called the consequent. Note that, if Hillary keeps true to her word, she only implies that the consequent will come true IF the antecedent comes true.
Now take a step back. Take off your Obama-goggles. If, tomorrow, Iran nuked Israel, how many citizens and government officials do you think would advocate nuclear retaliation. That's right: the majority.
I'm still laughing at the one person that said they were a PolySci major and then proceeded to educate everyone on how "Iran would not nuke Israel, it is as simple as that." That, my friend, is totally beside the point, and perhaps it might be time for everyone to brush up on their formal logic skills.

I was unaware that we had a NATO-style mutual defense pact with Israel.
But since we're obviously dealing with opinions and not facts, here's one: Clinton won't lift a finger to get us out of Iraq - she'd look "weak". So if she gets into the White House, I'd buckle up for a an extended occupation. Which, gee, makes further conflict even more likely, and hell, maybe she would get to nuke someone eventually.
