By the Way, is it Just Me?
One more thought on the Bitterness Imbroglio. A rich white lady who went to Wellesley and Yale and a rich white Republican guy, both long term fixtures of the Beltway power structure, are accusing a black guy raised by a single parent and his struggling to stay middle class grandparents of being an elitist, and no one's laughing. Many are nodding their heads in agreement, some are worrying themselves into a tizzy over whether it will stick, but no one is saying "damn, did I just walk into an episode of 'Green Acres,' or has the world always been this surreal and I just didn't notice?"
I mean, I guess, in a weird way, its a kind of progress . . .

Well, when you go out to SF and meet with elite donors and start discussing voters in Pennsylvania like they're lab rats, what do you expect?

OMG--Billy, you are SO right. When Clinton holds fundraisers, she only meets with down-home poor people.

John McCain as Oliver and Hillary Clinton as Lisa. Both claiming someone ELSE is out of touch with the likes of Mr. and Mrs. Ziffel and the other residents of Hooterville.

Bill was going around 16 years ago with his "I feel your pain" speeches and now 16 years later much of that pain has turned into the bitterness Senator Obama has seen. Anyways, I looked up this YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta_SFvgbrlY) of Bill from the '92 campaign. Funny how so little has changed, no wonder people are bitter. Now, Hillary seems to be implying that it's not real by handing out "I'm not bitter" stickers. What's next flip-flops? I think it also plays back to the Rev. Wright thing where they were basically denying the legitimacy of black anger as well.

Billy,
Either you are joking or you are one of those low information voters that just vote their economic interest away.
You know I've been reading posts all day just trying to get a feel of the landscape on this issue. There are quite few people that were sold onto Obama before but after hearing his comment, it has made them even a stronger supporter of Obama. I happen to be one of them. He really gets it. There is no game playing. A high school dropout can read or listen to his comments and understand where he is coming from. It's the real deal.
Now also intermixed in the blog comments, I heard the most negative comments about Barack. People twisting his words around, calling him elitist, condescending, arrogant, uppity. I'm thinking, "you can't be serious". Really? Then I come to realize that these are either Republicans or fervent Clinton supporters. May I add, fervent Clinton supporters that are either older women or Anti-obama. I mean I can understand the women supporters because they had been waiting on this day for the longest and now it's been taken from them. They don't have another 25 years to go, you know. So I'll let them have their argument. Then there are those that feel they have no other choice but to vote for Hillary (because there is no way in hell that they would vote for Obama for so many superficial reasons other than race.) But I would hope for them to read this post sober. If not yet sober, then come back tommorrow.
I need for a reader to just answer me when was the last time you heard a politician actually speak truth to power on something without the evasive, politically correct language? See, even though Obama came out with a loose tongue, he said it with empathy, compassion and truth. If anyone denies it, then I'm just going to buckle up my boots, because we would still have a long way to go in this country.
Let's be honest. Clinton has absolutely no way to get the nomination unless she tears the party up. If you agree with that with doing that, then you guys belong together. But there is at least one important factor here... People's lifes are at stake here. I understand that politics is like a sportmanship, but sometimes you need to put the baseball bat or hockey stick down and assess the goal and score record. In this situation, we are in the 3rd quarter, was once up by 10 points but now down by 3 points. We are not in a homecourt advantage. Their team are more built and fight dirty with elbows. We only got a 3-point play to make this. If we don't make it, then we are doomed again. Now back to reality, there are people who are hanging by a peice of thread who need a democrat President. Again, IT'S NOT A GAME, IT'S REAL. Hillary, can't overcome the delegates. If she continue to fight nasty like this, we'll just be watching Mccain waltz during his inauguration ball. And some Americans will still be hazardly hanging by that same peice of thread. And some of them will be those same small town voters that Obama was talking honestly about.
I'll let you relish on the rest. Thank you.

Ron Paul.
To a lesser extent, Mike Huckabee.
A few years ago, I would even have said John McCain. I swear, if I live to see the end of this century, I won't see another politician prove to be so thoroughly disappointing in so short a time. Almost every criticism that is levelled at either Clinton or Obama is more true of him than it is of them.

Spitting Image,
Thank you. You've put it into more perspective now. Ron Paul & Mike Huckabee were more honest and spoke from truth. Now that I realize this, it gives me more gloom than anything because they didn't get a fair shot from the media which explains what's going on w/ Obama. (sigh)

I find myself shaking my head in disbelief at the people nodding in agreement at Hillary's rallies at her claim of Obama being an elitist as well. It is just mind boggling........
