Well, not necessarily so. If a white candidate spoke and thought like Obama he might be doing even better. I think the majority of the attraction is to Obama's candor and meassage and not his color. Would he start offf with 90% of the black vote? Probably not. But where he might lose out on the black vote, he would gain in the white vote and then some.
Wading back into the Democratic presidential race, billionaire
businessman Bob Johnson said Monday that Sen. Barack Obama would not be
his party's leading candidate if he were white.Johnson's
comments to the Observer echoed those of former vice presidential
candidate Geraldine Ferraro. She stepped down as an adviser to Sen.
Hillary Clinton last month after saying Obama wouldn't be where he is
if he were white."What I believe Geraldine Ferraro meant is that if you take a freshman
senator from Illinois called `Jerry Smith' and he says I'm going to run
for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote?"
Johnson said. "And the answer is, probably not... ."

You should also mention that Bob Johnson, professional peddler and exploiter of misogyny, is a big time Clinton supporter (which is no surprise as he benefited greatly from Bill's big media deregulation which killed minority ownership, thus, his competition), and also the same asshole who implied that Obama was doing drugs "in the hood" while Hillary was saving the world, and then denied he was making a reference to drugs. But hey, I'm glad the asshole is back out in the spotlight wearing his Uncle Tom hat.

What a straw man. Obama didn't start with 90% of the AA vote; he earned it through 2007, and then into Iowa and New Hampshire. And let's not forget he far superior ground game in SC.

Barack didn't start with 90% of the black vote, he only picked that up when the Clinton campaign decided to try race baiting.
Clinton actually had a majority of the black vote locked up before Obama started winning in IA, NH, etc.

Let talk about who benefits from AA the most. Johnson would have anything if it wasn't for the AA watching his terrible BET Programming.
George W. Bush wouldn't be president if it wasn't for his father.
Hillary Clinton wouldn't be running for president if it wasn't for her Husband.
Hillary Clinton had the big name, the big money and she ran her campaign into the ground. It is time to give Obama his due. He has took on the Clinton Machine and put it on life support.
Please Mr. Johnson name one Democrat that can become president without 90% of the black vote in the general election.

TO you last comment. It is relevant to the general election and irrelevant to the primary. If Barack wasn't black he wouldn't be getting 90% of the black vote.
