Are Kansas and Missouri in Play?
Kansas, probably not. But these are very encouraging fundraising figures:

Particularly noteworthy is that (a) former mayor Kay Barnes (D) is fundraising on par with her uber-conservative opponent, incumbent Sam Graves, for Congress in Missouri's 6th; (b) former Congressman Jim Slattery raised $288,000 in JUST 12 DAYS, after announcing that he would run for Senate against former Intel Committee Chair and Bush protector Pat Roberts; and (c) Democratic incumbent and RCCC target Nancy Boyda, from Kansas' second district, has far outraised both her potential opponents, former Congressman Jim Ryun and State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins.
It's enough to get one's hopes up, but they'll all need a lot more help before November.

Missouri's in play if Obama is the nominee--he is very popular in the urban/suburban areas, and the outstate conservatives are not very fired up about McCain.
The war is a huge issue in MO. Plus, the MO GOP is suffering the effects of one of the worst governors in MO history.
I know people who are considering Obama who have probably never voted Democratic before.
