50 Truths about Barack Obama -- rebutting viral smears
Several members of my family in NC have recently received the "50 Lies
of Barack Obama" email, which makes a series of spurious accusations
about the candidate. It is making some of them question whether they
will vote for him or not. I remembered seeing someone on TPM refute
every one of these claims, but I had a hard time finding that post
yesterday. So my wife and I started working on a new list to counter
the lies, researching each of the claims. With the help of Gman and
Pistolpete we managed to locate the original a few hours later, and we
have since meshed the two pieces together with some more references for
some of the claims.

Our "50 Truths about Barack Obama" list can be found <a

Please take a look at it and let us know where we've made mistakes. If
a friend or family member has gotten this infamous "50 Lies" message,
send them these points and urge them to pass it on! We have to push
back against the surreptitious campaign to smear Obama's name before
too many people get it fixed in their minds that he's an
America-hating, lying, cheating racist monster.
Here's a great quote I saw from Andrew Jackson this morning that you can throw in with the email if you like:
"Truth shuns not the light; but falsehood deals in sly and dark insinuations, and prefers darkness, because its deeds are evil."

Sorry about the messed-up formatting. Here's Roo_P's original list:

akbar (if I may call you by your first name?),
the docs.google... list looks pretty good. What about including Ayers in there somewhere, now we know he was never convicted?
Otherwise, no suggestions so far. Great job. Thanks!
