Actually reading it made me nervous. He explicitly says `The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation.' Given how long the controversy over the Iraq war went on (prior to the invasion), it's very hard to believe that Obama never heard Wright voice that sort of opposition and that there were witnesses to that. Let's hope he hasn't dug himself a dreadful hole on this one.
