Was Wright's sermon that bad? Have you actually heard it?
This is an interesting turn of events it looks <a href="http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/21/the-full-story-behind-rev-jeremiah-wrights-911-sermon/'>like people (ovation for CNN's Roland Martin for some actual Journalism) are actually watching Jeremiah Wright's tapes and some of his quotes ... it appears *gasp* have been taken out of context by the media.
And he is not the only one ... The Huffington Post is also running a story on the man who Wright was quoting in his now infamous ... "America's chickens are coming home to roost" statement.
Please ... whatever you do ... watch the extended clip of the Sermon to see that this Wright dude is not Malcolm X ... in fact ... quite a bit of what he is saying actually true, if you can bring yourself to actually think through what he is saying.

I've heard it and I must say, if my pastor had spoken so candidly and passionately about our country, I might still be attending church.

It doesn't matter if it was bad (and I agree that it really wasn't). The fact is that Fox News and Republicans will be able to use these out-of-context clips to damage Obama.
Most people know it wasn't bad, but are still concerned about what this means for his electability. I think his speech did a great deal to repair the damage, but it's something that will no doubt still be brought up.
Think about the Muslim smears. Those were obviously false, but are still be used to attack him.

I think though that the Dem Party should be able to pushback on this in the General by actually showing these clips in full context.
My experience so far with independents and the moderate Republicans that Obama is trying to reach is that a lot of them will actually try to listen to all sides to the argument before taking a position.
This should give them pause.

I loved Huckabee's comments on Scarborough (http://youtube.com/watch?v=gTFLOu8fjxU). Now there's a guy who lays it down. I denounce, reject and malign the vast majority of his positions and am relieved to see him out of the race. But this is honorable.
I think Obama has made the Wright issue into something that's about more than a political campaign. We're going to see more of this no matter who wins the election.
