Three Goals For President Barack Obama
The three main goals for Barack Obama, should he win the nomination in November, should be universal health care (or a major revamping of the current system) and getting the nation off the dependency for oil and getting our troops home.
If he does nothing but those three items, while keeping us safe, he will be considered one of our greatest presidents.
President George W. Bush’s main successes were his tax cuts, prescription drug program for seniors and his ‘leave no child behind’ act. I won’t go into his failures.
Bill Clinton’s main successes were his ‘family leave act’, at the time, - NAFTA and achieving a massive surplus. I won’t go into his failures either.
Barack Obama will need to concentrate on just two or three items at most. Whenever a President tries to do more, they end up failing.
This once or twice in a life time ‘wave of support’ that is pushing Barack Obama to be the Democratic Party’s nominee in November 08 should also should be grabbed onto as our best opportunity to finally solve two or three of our countries major problems.
These American’s are ready for change. Not just a change in Party in the White House or man/woman at the helm, they want things fixed and prepared for them and their children’s futures.
Now is the time to finally get us off our dependence of oil. Put plans and acts into play to change things within a specific amount of years – such as putting a man on the moon. Even if mandates are required – just do it! It’s time.
Now is also the time to get us on track with better health care for ‘all’ Americans and not just the privileged. Put your plan into play Obama – just do it! It’s time.
Last but not least, get our troops home from Iraq. Just do it! It’s time.
In the long run, as President Bush says, history will show that it was President Barack Obama’s courage that put these actions into play for Americans.

Great post, Connie. I'd settle for just one of the three items you mentioned, because from that one action item comes such a manifold of benefits it will help to resolve the other issues. I'm talking about energy independence, and the best solution I have found so far is detailed in a book called Energy Victory, by Robert Zubrin. He calls for Congress to pass a law requiring all new cars sold in the contry to be able to run on any blend of gasoline and alcohol - not just ethanol, but methanol also - as a means of jump-starting a switch to an alcohol-baserd energy infrastructure.
Check it out: www.energyvictory.net.

Bravo on this post: just the words in the title...
"President Barack Obama" make me feel so much better, than having to hear eight years of "President" George Bush.
Besides these wonderful three goals, I cannot wait to see a Cabinet made up of positive, progressive, intelligent, and COMPETENT heads of departments who will actually work for citizens, not cronies, corporations or themselves.
I cannot wait to see some relativity painless adjustments to the funding of Social Security so it healthy for decades.
I cannot wait for our standing in the world to rise as we have real State Department based on actual diplomacy, not air travel.
I cannot wait for a return to our Constitution and the separation of powers for its three branches. A Justice Department and Supreme Court interested in justice. A Congress interested in acting on behalf of the citizens. And a President who will not mislead and actually lead.
How many more months?
President Obama has many things he can and will accomplish. Let's get going.
