Scaife and Clinton, together again
Wow, Josh's really gone off the deep end with his Scaife post. Does he really think Hillary Clinton is trying to sic Scaife on Obama so he can experience a little bit of what she has endured over the past 16 years?
Talk about a vast right wing conspiracy. Only this time, it's coming from the left.

Well, why else would she go to this paper, to this editorial board, with Scaife in the room, and unfurl this campaign tactic and fan this fire for the right wing of the Republican party?
I have not been one of the deeply fervent supporters of one candidate over the other on this site. As the campaign has gotten increasingly bitter, I have continued to feel that we have two well-qualified candidates and that either one will help to unseat the current regime and to begin to undo the immense damage it has done to our country.
It seemed to me that there was a real working majority of people who would elect one of these two candidates -- including independents and republicans -- and help to help orient the government toward better ends.
How could that not be more important, especially to Democrats who have a chance to win not just the presidency but also the legislature, than personal ambition. I know that is a bit starry-eyed, but it seemed to me that we were in a crisis great enough to spur that kind of nobility.
Clinton's reprehensible decision here makes clear that her personal ambitions trump the good of the country. She has no really tenable road to the nomination. What she is doing is helping to damage Obama for the McCain campaign.
I am deeply pained by this. I cannot vote for McCain. But Clinton has shown a kind of narcissism that makes me doubt whether she would be a good leader.
A world-historical moment looms. We will have to accept the responsibility for failing to rise to it should McCain win in the general election and continue the Bush policies.

How is it "going off the deep end" to note the factual circumstances? I love how quickly TPM readers will throw Josh under the bus when he applies the skills for which is known and praised, but they don't like the way it reflects on their candidate. Guess what? The way it reflects on her is on her, not Josh.

I'm sure Josh can speak for himself, but what I took from his post was that she had to have been mentally prepared because it was an old enemy's newspaper and they could be expected to play "gotcha". Which they quite possibly succeeded in doing because the "Rev. Wright" quote was the first thing to emerge and it was the headline on the paper's website.
Ka-ching - With a single question, her and Teresa Heinz Kerry's old enemy tried to inflict some damage on her, revisit the noise about the Reverend which doesn't help Obama in some segments and their website got monster pageviews from links all around the web.
Democrats lose, Richard Mellon Scaife wins.

This post is absurd. Are you sure you didn't go off the deep end?
PS: It ain't coming from the left. It is coming from the right with help of Hillary and Bill.
