Rally For Hillary Here!

I thought I'd open this little thread to give the few Hillary supporters still actively posting on TPM a place to kick back and bask in the glow of victory this morning.  I figured we could use a place far away from the wailing and whining and gnashing of teeth going on around the rest of TPM.

Her victories were stunning!  Think about it.  All he had to do was win either Ohio or Texas, and she was all in.  He just couldn't bring it off.  And now she has the energy to take her through Pennsylvania, and on to Pennsylvania Avenue.

She seemed vibrant last night.  Elemental.  I am ready to see her go up against tired, old John McCain.

Some things to think about.

Why in the world did he decide to contest Texas, where a third of the population is Hispanic and loves Hillary?  And a conservative state to boot.  Why didn't he treat Texas the way she treated Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin and Vermont.  He didn't contest Rhode Island, why Texas?  It's ironic that until last night his main claim to executive experience was the way he was running his political campaign.  Maybe he should have spent some time running his sub-committee instead.

By contesting Texas, did he throw away his last chance to get on the Clinton ticket?  Can she really take him on without offending the Hispanics who rallied to her yesterday?  Until last night, his campaign had carefully and brilliantly preserved an option for her to take him on as her VP candidate.  Can she still do that, or does she look to a Hispanic mayor now?

Where does last night leave Bill Richardson and John Edwards?  In the dumps I'd guess.

Will we see that 50 super delegate endorsement today?

Why can't Obama break out of his demographic straight jacket?  Can he run a national campaign based on the black, educated upper class, college vote he's based his primary campaign on?  Can he win Pennsylvania with that base?

It's a new morning.  To all those Obama supporters who are eating their own words this morning, I say:  Bon Appetit!

Ooh, it's so warm and cozy here....

He didn't contest Rhode Island? I thought Hillary was the one who wrote of some states as not mattering.

Thanks for carving out a spot for us.

I don't think Obama was wrong to contest Texas. All Democrats should court the Hispanic vote. It's the right thing to do.

I think Obama's supporters need to think about how smug they've been recently. People heard them calling for Hillary to drop out and it really motivated them. Drop out? No way. The primary must continue.

The part I liked was the 50 super delegate announcement. Wonder if that will happen. Obama has denied it was ever a possibility.

Excuse me for trespassing (I mean no disrespect; you have every right to bask in the glow), but:

"""By contesting Texas, did he throw away his last chance to get on the Clinton ticket?"""

On the morning talk show circuit [link below], HRC was very open to Obama to be her VP. It's probably the new storyline for her; "he's great, but only VP material right now." (Get that implanted in people's heads, and she'll do well here on out... Effective too, probably.)

Not only is it her storyline, gaining Barack's support for the "Dream Ticket" is her best chance of winning November.

Just a note: he did contest Rhode Island. Not time for a lot, only one visit I believe, but the ground troops were being organized there well ahead, as they were in every state. (I know because I was recruited...)

Yes, I'm an interloper also but just saw this heading and wanted - genuinely - to see what is was like here, what it looks like from the other perspective. (One note: not all Obama supporters were feeling 'smug,' and I don't think Obama was himself. Slightly giddy that the intraparty nastiness might be ending, however - definitely.) I'm sorry, actually, that there are so few Hillary supporters still on TPM, although I welcome the absence of name-calling and ugliness. Is there a site anywhere that there is non-emotional, non-nasty discourse going on between the two groups?

And for those who see my posts elsewhere, yes - I do get emotional and am deeply angry. But, hey, I'm a lawyer and can 'put that aside' (in the irritating fashion of my profession) and try, sometimes succeed, to see things from the other point of view. I truly do buy into Obama's approach: I really believe it is possible to 'disagree without being disagreeable' and, perhaps, to find some common ground to build on.

FWIW, I don't think the common ground would be in Obama running as Clinton's VP. He can do more, for his career and in fact, staying in the Senate. If she ever decides that she is not going to get the nomination but still wants to break a very high glass ceiling, I think there is a chance she could be his VP .... but ONLY if that agreement could be reached sometime soon. There would be a lot to be gained by doing it now: chiefly, an end to the party-shredding destructiveness that is going on and will only increase. The longer it goes, the less that advantage becomes. I understand why she wouldn't want to propose that seriously: that would be a big loss of face, especially after the victories of Ohio and the Texas popular vote. But the math is against her, and outright losing, going back to the Senate would be a bigger defeat, I believe. Well, out of my hands certainly, but that is the only constructive, peaceful resolution that I can see.

Well, in any event, I congratulate you, and your candidate. She doesn't give up, which is a genuine strength, and you should celebrate.
