Obama's HI-Tech Lynching (My Rant)!

Many of us in the African American community have been waiting for this very moment, for months we heard it festering in the Media on Blogs and Radio, and we knew it was a matter of time.  There were those hidden in the shadows trying to find a way to put that black man, that uppity, educated, do gooder in his place, the nerve of this Obama Character to think he was gonna be able to hold the highest office in this land.  And then they started digging, let's see, ok, his middle name is Hussain, no wait, he isn't Black enough, hmmmm, how about he doesn't say the Pledge of Allegiance, no, well his wife isn't proud to be American, still nothing....hmmmmmmmm.  We got it!

His Pastor is a Racist...GOT IT!  It has to stick, WE GOT HIM!!!!  Well, try again!

Obama is not his Pastor, and Obama may have sought Spiritual Guidance, but when was the last time Rev. Wright sat in on Obama's Foreign Policy Meetings, when has Rev. Wright introduced Obama in a Rally, when did Rev. Wright sit at a town hall meeting with Obama to discuss the economy.  Obama's Pastor was his Spiritual Advisor, not a Political Advisor, and what this whole episode tells me, is the same thing that Katrina told me.

White America has so much to still learn about Black America.  Go to any church in Harlem, Newark, Chicago, D.C. or Philadelphia and surprise, surprise you are almost sure to see a ton of Rev. Wrights.  And no, I do not agree with all of Wright's preaching, far from it, but I do believe the media is trying to turn Obama into Wright.  Trying to make Obama look like an angry, scary, black man, who you need to cross the street when he comes your way, or lock the door when he comes to close to your car, or even better grab, your purse when he sits down next to you.

Big Black Scary Barrack Hussain Obama.  A Minister who has endorsed McCain said Catholics are Whore and not a peep from the Media, just a wink and a nod.  Hillary has Ferraro say that Obama is only where he in the race because he is a Black Man, another wink and nod.  O'Reilly says well, lets not turn the lynch mob on Michelle yet, and silence.

Well, at least O'Reilly was honest about something, there was indeed a lynch mob waiting, and now the hoods are removed, and they can be seen every night on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and heard on Radio and blogs like MYDD.  Just look at them foaming at the mouth, gathering in klans, smirking, slapping each other on their backs, knowing that a good ole fashion lynching is going down tonight.  They are whispering and screaming out loud, we got you now, you n-----, we told you to stay in your place, but noooo, you had to give the people Hope, you wanted to unite the races, you wanted to bridge the economic divide and talk all this world peace and environmental safety.  Oh no, not tonight, tonight you are ours.

Iam a white guy and you know what really scares me? Not a black guy going over the line but his message is still true its the crazy mega church guys on tv who say shit like Katrina was caused by gay people or the rapture is upon us. What scares me is not the words they speak but that people listen to them and far to many people at that. In context Wright's comments aren't bad at all but those guys preaching isn't out of context they are just stone cold nutz.

Dear Senator Obama,
Do not cast your pearls before swine.

At a St. Patrick's day party this weekend I found out that five of my friends, age 50+ and WASPS, are Obama supporters like me. (Our host and hostess had a McCain sign in their front yard but admitted their hearts aren't in it but then we do live in Arizona.) You may be surprised to learn that one of the women said that she and her husband had listened to the videos of Rev. Wright and said they honestly couldn't disagree with any of what he said.

It is way past time that the Civil Rights Movement enters the 21st century.

I have faith that Obama will be helping that happen with his speech on Tuesday.

Josh Marshall had a great TPM video yesterday about the Fox-centric Wright attacks and how obvious it is that they're leading the charge on this. It's still on TPM's front page.

The fact that this debate is still going on shows just how successful Fox has been at affecting the media's coverage of it and subsequently your very own conversations and concerns.

Why are there no video clips of Hagee's sermons floating around or why were there no Huckabee sermon's scrutinized by the media?

Robert Greenwald of Brave New Films has produced another of his ongoing watchdog films follwing his documentary "Out-Foxed" titled "Fox Attacks Obama Part 2." Take a look:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjvNSpsPu1k&eurl=http://crooksandliars.com/

Moveon.org has a petition to sign to bring the Fox-manipulated media's attention to themselves.

New York Post, Baltimore Star, Fox News and anything owned by Rupert Murdoch is the most successful political machine in the history of America. When they redefine a person, that new definition sticks forever. That's the true reason everyone hates Bill and Hillary. I read somewhere that no single person has ever been more attacked by right wing then either of them.

Haha! No one reads the Baltimore Star! SUN PAPERS ONLY. Or City paper if you are a dirty fucking hippy, or have a hankering for the truly delicious personal ads.

The Baltimore Star! Get the fuck out of here!

Ha!

FOX cannot bring Obama down, unless Obama has a real scandal (most of us are sure he does not, because even a rank unprofessional outfit like FOX would have found it by now).

FOX is the kid in the old joke: He opens a giant box at Christmas, filled with manure. He jumps in and starts flinging it all over, diving into the middle of the pile. His parents exclaim, "What are you doing!?" He replies, "I know there's a pony in there somewhere!!"

Though my comment will probably be angrily
dismissed, I nontheless feel driven to
warn you that using the rhetoric of "high-tech lynching" is to recall Clarence Thomas's invention of the term which he did to dismiss Anita Hill's accusations of sexual harassment by liberal feminists as to derail his appointment to the Supreme Court. Consider whether you want to go there, cause Fox News et. al. may take you up on it.

Once the general election race gets moving, also keep in mind that besides Clarence Thomas, the GOP also has people like Condi Rice and that their nominee has a 15-year-old black Bangladeshi daughter.

I really don't foresee Obama playing it the way you are, I think he is too smart for that, at least I hope so.

My understanding is that the Rev. Wright did have a symbolic role in the campaign, much like Geraldine Ferraro had a symbolic position in Hillary's.

And, like it or not, we aren't going to be able to totally ignore the race question because as you pointed out, there are people who have been lying in wait. I do think that the current situation is most likely handlable and I just made a post to that effect, but the issue was going to get onto the table and it's better to address it now, rather than for us to wait until October.

This is a good post. Its nice to hear from an African-American about this issue. I think that this election has shown that America is still divided on race - of course, a lot less than before, but it still exists. White America and Black America still see the world differently and what's sad is that the media is painting the views of Black America in a bad light for political gain.

The media, which loves to jump on the diversity bandwagon, is throwing a race under the bus again, so they can get ratings, and in the case of Fox, to try to politically denounce Obama.

Kenyatta,

Surely the surprise is that it took until March for this to happen?

And the other surprise is in the polls showing up this morning, where Senator Obama has lost ground, but less than 10 points?

It doesn't make sense to imagine waking up and finding white racism gone in a day.

What does make sense is imagining the waves on the shore. They push up, and pull back. The fact that the wave is out just now doesn't mean it won't roll over you in a minute or so.

But it's possible that the tide is, slowly, going out all the same.

To me, it's not news that there are white folks in Mississippi who never gave a moment's thought to backing voting for a black candidate. It's news that there are some who did vote for him. (And to my mother and my aunt, it's news that he campaigned and survived to campaign in Pennsylvania, and news that huge numbers of black folks voted for him and then went home to dinner and tv.)

It's not news that an old woman from a a struggling white neighborhood would claim affirmative action gave a black candidate an edge or even that a white candidate would let those comments ride: it's news that Senator Clinton eventually realized she had to cut Representative Ferraro off.

It's not news that the white candidate stitched up so many established party leaders. It's news that she didn't get them all, and news that a million internet donors and waves of self-starting volunteers showed up for the better candidate and didn't let race slow them down.

Inch by inch, we're gaining ground. We're shoveling through the garbage and finding the better America underneath.

(Doesn't mean there isn't garbage being thrown)

Stay strong!

Wait for the reaction to his speach before you decide he has lost. It is enough to win him the election IMHO.

I'm not black, but I feel like I'm witnessing a web "lynching" of Obama, not on this site but on other MSM blogs and boards. He's a whites hater, a dangerous con, Jim Jones/Hitler/Charles Manson, he's a Trojan horse indoctrinated with hatred by his pastor for 20 years, how dare he attack Ferraro when he's in fact the true racist, etc., a lot of it from Hillary supporters. This speech should have lifted me up, but I'm thoroughly discouraged by the amount of hate-mongering out there from fellow Democrats. I don't think anything Obama can do will drown the hateful cacophony out there.

Nothing like aiding and abetting. Expect right-wing media to do whatever they can ala' Wright to bleed both of the Democratic candidates just enough to continue the primary but not enough to fatally wound either candidate. The Republicans are disadvantaged by money, enthusiasm and W and so gain considerably by the Democratic primary dragging on to the exhaustion of the winner and the damage to the Democratic Party in general. The Republicans may owe this insight to The Greatest, Muhammad Ali, who coined the phrase "rope-a-dope" to describe the tactic. The issues raised about racism, our history, etc. are all important and deserve to be addressed. I'm a white guy who fervently hopes that Obama takes it all and I'm not voting for just the white half :)! Anyway, after we win is the time for this discussion or we may never have another chance like this at least in my lifetime.

avatar

It is indeed a hightech lynching.

I'm surprised that no one has denounced FoxNews and ABC news for their ugly, divisive smear job of Wright. Wright's statements have indeed been taken otu of context.

This is a classic case of minority voices being trampled by the majority view.

Is Obama Wrong About Wright?
By Michael C. Dawson | TheRoot.com

Among black Americans, Jeremiah Wright may not be that far out of the mainstream.

avatar

"In context Wright's comments aren't bad at all but those guys preaching isn't out of context they are just stone cold nutz."

Exactly. Wright is NOT on par with Falwell and Hagee.

Those folks are preaching agaisnt gays and minorities and women.

Wright is preaching against racism and violence and war.

Morally, there's no comparison. His tone is harsh, but his message is real.

avatar

"His Pastor is a Racist...GOT IT! It has to stick, WE GOT HIM!!!! Well, try again! "

This is an astute comment.

So congrats -- you are brighter than the clowns who run CNN, MSNBC, ABC and all the other MSM that follow the Rightwing Noise Machine like lemmings.

Kenyatta

You are dead on target. They have looked, examined, investigated, hopped continents and still they were not able to unearth anything to sway the electorate against Barack.

So what are we now facing?

Good ol race card southern strategy.

The thing that has inperpetuity divided America...race.

This is ALL they have.

America the choice is yours.

Are you once again going to allow division on the basis of race determine who the President will be?

Cause that is ALL you have.

RACISM. Where they pit us against one another on the basis of the color of our skins.

Obama is telling you he embodies all sides of the race issue.

He is whole, he is a leader a visionary who seeks to lead this nation up out of our moral morass and into the new millineum

America the choice is yours.

Our moment is now.

Don't let the differnces in the color of skin determine our fate.

Rise up. Reject it. Unite.

Coalesce around hope and all the ideals of what it means to be American.

Together we CAN take back our country.

avatar

Kenyatta, I feel you.

Obama First White House Contender to Call for Imus' Firing Over Racial Slur"I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News, "but I would also say that there's nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude."

avatar

OBAMA gave IMUS a high tech lynching. end of story.

What really bothers me, is hearing from numerous black commentators, pundents, talking heads, whatever, that this Rev Wright racial hatred type sermon is a weekly happening in black churchs across the country. And, you wonder why black men are out killing young white college girls.

Hey, homeland security, forget the mosques, infiltrate these black churches.

The enemy is among us, and lo and behold, it is us.

Hey, the cleaners called. Your hood's ready to be picked up.

This is laughable. I am actually laughing at your ignorance.

List of republican trolls infiltrating TPM.

So Far:
Marginal Player
CR1992

I have a feeling there are many more. Just trying to keep track.

avatar

Yes CR1992,

The enemy is indeed among us. Your comment is un-American and indecent.

This cr1992 cretin's hateful remark,

"And, you wonder why black men are out killing young white college girls.

Hey, homeland security, forget the mosques, infiltrate these black churches.

The enemy is among us, and lo and behold, it is us."

This multiplied out there daily. The first mixed race front-runner for the nomination and he's being lynched in the MSM and even here.
