Obama, the movement that bonds

avatar

I attempted to describe what it is that Obama brings that is so different to any other campaign.   It is the bonding experience that we get from being involved.     It is only after reading the article about his mom and many other articles about his Pastor that I finally found why I feel so dedicated to his candidacy and his campaign.   It is the power of bonding all of us together in a common purpose to make change happen.   Now it seems maybe naive to think this way, but it is, in fact true.   Just read the blog at his website.  The passion, the voluntarism, the new voters, the engagement of his supporters, even the creativity his campaign has inspired is a result of the bond that we feel by supporting his campaign.   It is a family bond, a community bond, something that escaped me before but it is now clear.   His ability to connect with our desire to be part of the solution, to bring about change in a wave composed of all kinds of people and community.   He is the American Dream personified and we see that and want to achieve it and he has given us the opportunity to take it and run like hell with it directly to Washington DC.   Obama is the glue that holds this sense of community, that bonds his vision and our strength with what America should and will be.  We are indeed the ones we have been waiting for.

Sounds like he could be the "savior" of Kenya, if he could but fulfill the "dreams from my father".

By the way he says "like you that he was raised by a single mom".Just another one of his "bonding" statements

By the way he was actually raised by his maternal grandparents.

His father deserted him and his mother, he never really knew him (only met him once in his life),maybe dreams is what he is all about. Better than no hope I guess.

I do. It is not a family bond, or community bond. It's a bonding of hate. I aree there is a lot of the passion, but it's the passion of hate.

I agree with you about the bonding; my 4 grown children and I are all Obama supporters and have gotten much closer.

And speaking of the passion of hate, we are housing an Obama staffer who is working on the PA primary campaign, and he told me the other night that he has been screamed at, spit on, and called the "N" word (he's a young white guy) on the streets of Pittsburgh by Clinton supporters while he was wearing his Obama tee-shirt. Yes, Obama people are passionate, but I haven't heard of anything like that from our side.

I am originally from Pittsburgh. I'm an Obama supporter and am now saddened by what you say about the Obama staffer's experience in my home town. Like you, I feel that the Obama campaign has offered a lot of hope, in particular to people upset and angry about BushCo's many tragic failures over the last 8 years, but willing to join a movement to try to fix things ... make it better. Tell the staffer you're hosting to take a walk through Shadyside or East Liberty ... nicer people there, and open to the message!
