Obama In Philly
I thought the speech was very well written and effectively delivered. I couldn't help but wonder what other politician of any stripe could deliver such a nuanced speech in such politically dangerous waters. In a national debate could Hillary fill in as a surrogate? I don't think that she passes the understands-ordinary-american- lives test. Has she ever inspired the kind of hope that this speech makes available to all Americans (except maybe the fat-cats at the tip-top of the economic ladder who figure they don't need hope since they are so bloated with capital). I felt like everyone should be required to listen to this speech because we all need to confront the issues he raises sooner or later. I'd be willing to listen to whatever the far right would serve up in exchange. I think his message and point of view are potent and much needed.
