A party divided...

The people who leap when Hillary screws up but who shrug when it's Obama, are saying that this Jeremiah Wright scandal is nothing much. Some Obama supporters are roaming cyberspace, saying how it's just an overheated sermon so get a life, Iraq's in flames and Pakistan is next so why are we bothering with this, and when are people going to grow up. Right behind them, some Hillary supporters are making themselves ill with moral outrage, hiding it from the kids, and encouraging superdelegates to watch the video 'with an open mind'.
Let's be honest. If it's our guy, we will turn our brains inside out to find an excuse, or say we don't need one because it's nothing. If it's their guy, the world order is under threat, he is the anti-Christ, and thank God we found out now.

Lost in all this is a dogging question about Obama washing his hands of his pastor in quite the way he has. Any politican would do just that, if he were a bit ruthless, and that's the problem. Obama is supposed to The Different One, the Hope and Change guy who wants to usher in a new kind of politics. Throwing Wright overboard as if he were Jonah and in order to calm the raging sea, is not new; and what it has to with Hope and Change I can't imagine. Unless it's just Obama hoping that this scandal won't change anything. .
