It's 3am...and there's a monster under the bed

Is Senator Clinton really so afraid of being called a monster?  If so, she should pull out of the race, she's not ready to be commander-in-chief on day one.

More of the same contrived Washington controversy mongering.  A slip of the tongue followed by an apology.  End of story.

Unless you're afraid of monsters.

I am very afraid of the very real monster that is holding my party hostage. Unless she gets the nomination that she thinks she is entitled to, she will do anything to destroy the chances of the eventual nominee.

What great timing! Almost immediately after hitting the submit button, the news comes out that Powers resigned.

The point remains the same; I'm tired of gotcha politics. It was a stupid thing to say, but it shouldn't be a career-ender.

The Republicans will use much stronger terms than "monster" in the coming months. Our national enemies will say mean things about our next president, too. Hopefully our next president is able to focus on more important matters.

I suggest all Obama partisans learn how to live with monsters, because it's obvious to me that Hillary is staying in the race. Not, as many suspect, to pursue the scorched earth win-at-all- costs steal it at the convention strategy. No, Hillary is going to be on this ticket because it's plan "B" for her partisans and assorted Lobbyists and other corporate interests that comprise her "power base" inside the beltway.

Her plan, without actually admitting it to herself, is to be an even MORE powerful Veep than Dick Cheney was, and to thank him for the precedent.

What is blocing this shotgun wedding of the two campaigns? Penn. He knows that both he and Wolfson are expendable, and in fact part of the problem. Then there's the Obama pledge of "open and transparent government". That will be hard for Hillary and her minions, but she can adapt.

Face it, it will be an equivalent of Kennedy-Johnson, but this time it might work out a little better. Hillary has proven she can adapt to a new message on the fly. This won't be that big a stretch, but she'll sure miss her good ol' triangulators.
