In Defense Of Fake Sinbad
Apparently the real Sinbad wants us to know that the fake Sinbad is not the real Sinbad.
I've got news for the real Sinbad -- the real Sinbad needs to know that the fake Sinbad is not so easily dismissed. Fake Sinbad, through his writing here, has opened up to us. He's taken the time to share his life with us. We have laughed with fake Sinbad. And we have cried.
We have lived.
I am saying this not as a favor to fake Sinbad, but simply as a fan, a fellow blogger. A friend. Fake Sinbad, you see, is now part of the TPM community -- he is one of us.
In fact, I would go as far as to say the fake Sinbad is more real to us than the real Sinbad.
Has the real Sinbad blogged here at TPM? No.
The fake Sinbad has.
Has the real Sinbad not-gone to Bosnia, not not-taken sniper fire, and lived to tell about it? No.
The fake Sinbad has.
Has the real Sinbad proposed himself as Sen. Clinton's running mate? No.
The fake Sinbad has.
Has the real Sinbad apologized for dissing Fred Armisen?
Well, I'm not sure if fake Sinbad has, either. But I BELIEVE he will.
You see, I BELIEVE in fake Sinbad.
I BELIEVE he can be a force for good in this world. Well, or at least on this blog. Anyway....
So, real Sinbad, listen up. Hear me loud and clear:
You cannot stop fake Sinbad. You cannot simply email TPM and stop what fake Sinbad has started. You cannot stop the movement that has begun. You cannot stop me from RECOMMENDING his blog posts -- again and again and again.
I BELIEVE in fake Sinbad.
I believe...

The real fake Sinbad appreciates your support.
The real fake Sinbad wants you to know that he would not have joined the TPM community, would not have posted his own blogs, and commented in the blogs of others, if the real fake Sinbad did not believe in the fierce urgency of now.
The real fake Sinbad does not speak his mind on these pages for the vainglorious purpose of self-promotion.
But if he were to do that, he would say:
Check out my new movie, Stompin', now available on DVD!
Sinbad/Clinton '08 - We pretty much peaked around 1996!

The real Sinbad is a guy that fights hydras and marries princesses and rubs lamps and has big Green friends. Or is it big Blue friends...I forget. Not only THAT but he's actually OLDER than McCain. Not many are.
The real fake Sinbad isn't any better than the real fake fake Sinbad.
So there.

Also, did the real Sinbad actually write TPM? Should the fake Sinbad be worried?
Sinbad: Sinbad loves you!

Through his incisive commentary Fake Sinbad has shown me my true self and the real nature of the universe, and is thus responsible for more authenticity than Real Sinbad. So I say, who is the Fake?

Sinbad is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. Sinbad is alpha and omega, yin and yang, the light and the darkness. Sinbad is the air you breath and the lungs that you breath it with. Sinbad is a living koan. Sinbad is wei-wu-wei, the dancer and the dance when the two can no longer be separated. Sinbad sees you when you're sleeping and knows when you're awake. Sinbad would very much to like to know whether we are eating here or at the next place. Above all, Sinbad knows that here and the next place are one and the same.
Sinbad has eaten his rice and is now washing his bowl.

It's like when we found out our little league coach had been wearing a wig, had not really played for the Brewers, and in fact, during the final game, was carted off the field by the cops for being an escaped convict. Did that diminish the worth of our second place Bremen district pre-pony league trophies? Somewhat. But did we visit him in prison? We meant to. And to this day, would we give him cab fare if we ran into him on the street? I have 10 dollars, sorry, that's all I have, and I've really got to get going-- but it was great seeing you!

Yes, believe it or not, the real Sinbad (TM) actually wrote in to let us know and ask that we let others know that he was not fake Sinbad, though I think this was a week or so back before fake Sinbad had come out as fake Sinbad.

That is awesome.
I'm sure the Polk award was nice, but you spoke with Sinbad. Now TPM has arrived.

Yes, and if real Sinbad would have simply blogged here as real Sinbad right off the bat, and not opened the door for fake Sinbad to become the predominate Sinbad-based blogger here at the Cafe, this all could have been avoided.
You snooze and all...

The overwhelming success of fake Sinbad has produced one unfortunate trend--fake public figures will soon abound.
So, with no offense to fake Rambo or fake Mark Penn, I have to ask: Is this the real Josh Marshall?

The funny thing is, when he posts a comment, he doesn't type but rather uses the Force.
And I am the real Smurfette. And, Hillary Clinton supporters, I can tell you a thing or two about sexism....

I am really getting concerned about the devisiveness here. Don't Sinbad and fake Sinbad realize negatives will go up? Don't the Sinbad's realize that they are leaving the mic open for Dennis Miller?
Please - Why can't the Sinbad's come together? Let's save the funny for the big battle for the Caliphate in November?

A true and non-fairweather Fake Sinbad friend you are - an inspiration to us all.
Left to ponder Fake Sinbad's question re Real Sinbad's news sources & TPM-frequenting - on the one hand, I say that all of his Bosnia-Clinton-debunking and Obama support would indicate an engaged citizen. The other hand would show lawyers and advisers who troll the public domain for misuse of their client's likeness and name. Although, one must give Real Sinbad credit for simply informing Josh Marshall that he's not Fake Sinbad - rather than a 'cease & desist from use' letter.
Fake Sinbad - as an attorney, I'd advise you to retain Bob Bennett, erstwhile attorney to the tony political-celebrity set - so that he might negotiate a civil solution. Perhaps we can start a legal defense fund.
Whatever else we do we must heal this rift to avoid a brokered Sinbad convention.

Personally, I can't wait for the cease and desist letter from Mr. Adkins and his attorney.
