At this point in time, the only way that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will be able to salvage what is left of the Democratic Party is for Hillary Clinton to announce this weekend or at least before Pennsylvania that she is dropping out of the race.
 
She will have to be the one to explain to her supporters that, short a miracle, she cannot win the nomination in August in Denver, Colorado.  She will need to explain is detail why she’s giving up. 

She can discuss the elected and super delegate counts, the fact that Obama has won 30 of the previous 44 States and the fact that it will be almost impossible to win the popular vote now, even with Florida and Michigan votes counted; which by the way, she can tell her voters that she will continue to 'push for' their delegates to be seated.

At the same time she can admit that she continues to feel she is the most qualified to be President; but that Sen. Barack Obama has consistently proven over the past year that he is quite capable of winning the office of the Presidency in November.

She needs to say that he has run a historical campaign and that she’s sure that with the help of the Democrats, Independents and some Republicans, and she, that Sen. Barack Obama, WILL BE, our next President of the United States.

Perhaps than, her supporters will sadly admit defeat and slowly work their way toward supporting Obama over John McCain.

Last but not least, perhaps Obama’s supporters will begin to heal and forgive.  Possibly even thank Hillary Clinton for vetting Barack Obama.
