Florida Democrats Taunted the DNC When Moving Primary

I keep hearing over and over on the networks that the Florida State Democrats were helpless and had to bend to the will of the Republicans and Gov. Crist when the primary date was moved up.  They argue that it was not their fault, that they didn't know delegates would be stripped, any one of a laundry list of excuses.  THis is utterly ridiculous.  They knew what they were doing and openly made a mockery of the DNC on the state Senate floor.  The best part?  There's video proof:

Gee since the Republicans and the Republican Gov. Crist get to decide the Primary date it is pretty Obvious why it was moved up isn't it. Or are you just a fool Aric?

So I see you STILL haven't bothered to research the entire history of this sordid affair. Don't you think it would help your arguments if you actually knew what you were talking about before you comment?

Oh - yeah - you couldn't bear to take the time to do that, lord knows - you might actually learn something. I'll bet you cannot tell me exactly when, how and where all the events that lead to this juncture played out, nor can you tell me who actually introduced the bills to the Florida house and Senate.

Jefferson warned about trying democracy in a population without a proper education... you're a fine example of how that works out.

You obviously know how the Democrats in Florida's congress voted, right? You know they were aware of the consequences before voting with near unanimity to move up their primary date? And that the only legislators who wanted to abide by DNC rules is an Obama supporter?

I mean, you'd have to be a fool not to.

If you had bothered to watch the video, you would realize how utterly stupid your comment here is.

I must therefore surmise that you abdicated that opportunity.

It is better to remain quiet and appear the fool, than to speak and remove all doubt (I think this needs no proper citation by now).

Back under the bridge, troll. Or you shall be smote by the Paradox of Truth.

They thought it was a big joke I guess.

Not laughing now.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to imply. My point is, all of the Democrats in their state senate voted for the bill too, with full knowledge of what the consequences would be. They thought it would be hilarious to stick it to the DNC, and now that they got called out on it by not having their delegates matter they're raising an enormous stink and claiming they couldn't do anything to prevent the date from being moved. This video shows that they could easily have kept the Democratic half of the primary on or after 2/5 but the state Democrats chose to move it anyway, and made a half-assed proposal to try to maintain an appearance of due diligence, forgetting that they live in the age of video where it would come back and bite them.

You may find the resources here, if you have not already seen them, useful in fully answering questions regarding this. Note that some additional sources are also contained within commentary.

It does? I've never heard anyone suggest the Dems had any possibility for splitting the Dem primary from the Repub primary. The primary was funded by the state, not the FL Dem party, so it's highly unlikely the state would have entertained running two separate primaries. The date was set by the legislature and, while the Dems could indeed have protested (and didn't), I don't see how a Dem minority could have achieved legislation to split the primary in two, doubling the cost of the primary election.

Let's also remember that the legislation setting the primary date was bundled with a provision requiring a paper trail where electronic balloting is used. It would have been politically risky for FL Dems to vote against the bill given the inclusion of that very important provision. It's a little more complicated than some might like to suggest, but no question that FL Dems made their own bed on this.

The comical aspect of the whole situation is Hillary surrogates trying to blame Obama for the delegates not getting counted. This is so demonstrably false that it is actually silly. And the notion of her having "won" Michigan pretty much speaks for itself.

The only problem is that NH moved their date up a second time as well from the original agreed upon dates and were not penalized. Why?

Because they were specifically approved to hold their primary ahead of time along with the three other states.

Which is what this entire argument is about. It was agreed to by everyone that these four states would go ahead of the others. Then the two decided that they would bully their way to the front row.

Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.

Louisville, were you not reading the news last year when all of this started?
