Ferraro: Itsa Black Thang
According to Ben Smith at Politico Geraldine Ferraro made this remark in 1988:
Placid of demeanor but pointed in his rhetoric, Jackson struck out
repeatedly today against those who suggest his race has been an asset
in the campaign. President Reagan suggested Tuesday that people don't
ask Jackson tough questions because of his race. And former
representative Geraldine A. Ferraro (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday that
because of his "radical" views, "if Jesse Jackson were not black, he
wouldn't be in the race."
Maybe Ms. Ferraro should gracefully exit stage left and refrain
from commenting any further on this nomination process. She's hurting
her team.

Unfortunately, she's not hurting her team, far from it. She's peeling white supporters away from Obama to Clinton. It is morally unscrupulous but lethally effective. :( They have resigned themselves to losing the black vote after SC, and their strategy is now to go after the white vote, pandering to inner prejudices, fears and insecurities. Yes, it is scorched earth, and they have no qualms that their tactics have not only hurt the Democratic party re the McCain-CIC comments, they're now aiming to take advantage of the racially charged faultlines in the American society, straight out of the Rovian playbook. Republicans have used this tactic successfully, I may add.
I have lost all respect for HRC and her supporters.
