Enough with the Obamania Already

I don't like the concatenation "Obamania." First, it's not clear whether to pronounce it "Oba Mania" or "Obama Nia." Neither way makes a lot of sense.

Secondly, I don't appreciate the implication that Obama supporters are somehow deluded, insane or otherwise not fully possessed of our faculties.

I'm also pretty sure I won't like the inevitable "Obanomics" or "Obamanomics" or "Obamaconomics" that will come to signify his economic platform.

I do, however, have a useful suggestion for talking about John McCain. The "Mc" in McMansion taints a house by negative association with McDonald's. It means a wastefully super-sized, mass produced, inferior quality, ridiculous house. So I propose to similarly prefix anything to do with John McCain, yielding McOnomics, Foreign McPolicy, McMilitary Strategy, Campaign McFinance, and Borrow and McSpend, for starters.

Someone should have told the Clinton campaign that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

they forget that reagan had this kind of support among republicans and reagan democrats.. if youtube existed then it would be just as hyped as obama was.

Agreed - Obamania as a word only works visually. I made the same garbley attempt of Oba Mania vs Obama Nia and neither are functional. And likewise, I'm so over being referred to as a "maniac" for supporting a candidate.

And I LOVE the Mc prefix idea! That works beautifully. McBombs away!! ;)

McCain's name actually lends itself quite nicely to the Obama slur. McCainiac just rolls off of the tongue.

Okay.

Obamanoid it is.

How about: Oba-ma-na?

You know, as in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYJuKX2j-Cw

I love it! Foreign McPolicy, Borrow and McSpend.

Also McTax Policy. McTrade Agreements. Fun!

Here's something: I've seen people adopting the middle name Hussein to defuse the shock and fear associated with Obama's exotic and SCAAARRRYYY name.

Obama still has time to own the name and make it a national joke if the name is used in a derogatory sense.

Sort of like the plagiarism thing has turned into a joke - I don't see anyone take it seriously anymore. Now it's always "Whoops, don't want to plagiarize you! Hahah.." sort of thing.

I've always found the best way of diffusing an attack is with "yeah.... so?" If you don't think the attack carries any weight, it ceases to be an effective attack. Obama has done this with several things, and can do so again.

I always say Obama-mania, like Wrestlemania.
