Dick Morris Tells Hillary "It's Over."
Dick Morris is a scumbag, but he's a brilliant scumbag who knows the Clintons well and makes a point that's been reflected by TPM readers. His column in the Hill lays it out clearly.
"The real message of Tuesday’s primaries is not that Hillary won. It’s that she didn’t win by enough.
The race is over.
The results are already clear. Obama will go to the Democratic Convention with a lead of between 100 and 200 elected delegates. The remaining question is: What will the superdelegates do then? But is that really a question? Will the leaders of the Democratic Party be complicit in its destruction? Will they really kindle a civil war by denying the nomination to the man who won the most elected delegates? No way. They well understand that to do so would be to throw away the party’s chances of victory and to stigmatize it among African-Americans and young people for the rest of their lives. The Democratic Party took 20 years to recover from the traumas of 1968 and it is not about to trigger a similar bloodletting this year."
I'm getting a little tired of the media and can see that in most cases they're simply cashing in with viewers who, despite the end of the Writers Guild strike, are still tuning in to the election drama. It's over and Obama is in the winners spot, but nobody in the media will really say that because there's a lot more ad revenue to pull in especially from the candidates themselves.

Clinton will stay in the race - and do her very best to see that McCain wins in November - because she plans to run again in four years. She's just positioning herself for the contest in 2012.
If she can get the V-P nod (which is the whole point of this 'shared ticket' stuff), then so much the better. She can still make sure Obama loses the general election, because the blame will fall on the presidential candidate, not the V-P. If anything, this will just make her the heir apparent in the next election.
And at McCain's age, he'll likely settle for only a single term, so she wouldn't even have to run against an incumbent president. It's a win-win situation - Hillary wins and Clinton wins. Only the country, and the Democratic Party, lose. But who cares about that?

Oh, if Dick Morris says it, it must be true.
No way Dick Morris is biased.
He's not mad at the Clintons for canning his butt or anything.
By the way, how did you even understand what he was saying, given that he probably had a whore's foot in his mouth when he said it?
Nothing against sexual fetishes or whores meant by that comment. But consider the source. Dick Morris is nothing but an angry and humiliated ex-employee of the Clintons and anything he says or writes has to be taken as an attempt at revenge.

Are you willing to listen to anything President Clinton says, or do you assume he has an intern's breast in his mouth?

I respect Bill a lot. So I assume he's got two breasts in his mouth. If only one, then he's got a hand on an ass. As I said about Dick Morris... there's nothing wrong with getting satisfied sexually. The problem with Morris is that he's nothing but an angry ex employee at this point. Bill Clinton is the guy that most men want to be and most of their girlfriends want to be with. Morris is a loser. Bill's just better than he is. And it eats Morris alive.

destor23,
Jesus, I hope not.
Some men dream of being polar explorers. My sister was one until a female colleague had an arm torn off by a polar bear cooled her enthusiasm. [Both were geologists.] Today she is an arthritic old woman training dogs in Namibia to protect endangered animals.
People dream of all sorts of things but you remind me of Anita Bryant's campaign against gays, proclaiming that she was trying to prevent lusting after the lifestyle. I was concerned about Anita's lusts more than her targets. :-)
One thing this male never dreamed of being was anything remotely like Bill Clinton nor Dick Morris.
I don't have any girlfriend but my wife doesn't exactly find the pair the most desirable males on earth. Obviously there are some who will throw their panties or other intimate garments at such men but aren't they more to be pitied than admired? Admittedly my wife must have odd tastes in men. :-(
This is really sick IMHO, destor. I guess it's an honest opinion. I doubt it is true but could be for all I know.
Best, Terry

It coming from Dick Morris doesn't make his statements any less true. Obama is ahead in delegates. So far ahead in fact there is no way for Hillary to catch up. None, nada. They only way she can get the nom is by stealing it - plain and simple.
Dick Morris is a dirtbag, but facts are facts. Dispute if you like, but numbers don't lie.

But let´s hear a genuine argument to the contrary?
I think it is time to start taking this question to the next level. It´s clear that Obama will win the nomination.
The question now, and I implore people to start asking and writing about this, is why in the heck is Clinton still in the race?
I am EXTREMELY suspicious of her continued candidacy, and I think it´s clear that she is not continuing her candidacy in order to win. The real question is, what in the heck is going on?????

The shmuck hates Clintons with a passion, he predicted her demise about half dozen times over the course of the campaign, every time with great certainty and aplomb, every time wrongly. He's even promised to leave the country if she's elected president (I vaguely remember that Hillary has used this promise as a fundraising appeal).
In his latest rant he conveniently forgets that Obama might not succeed in shooting down FL and MI re-vote, after which Hillary will probably take indisputable lead in popular vote.
Dick Morris and his ilk is yet another reason to vote for Hillary.

If you look at the numbers, she cannot win either the pledged delegate lead or the popular vote by a revote.
She also cannot win the pledged delegate vote by seating Florida (and we all know she will not seat Michigan).
The race is OVER! Check the numbers. The bums lost, Lebowski!

Yep! He got it right. And I do not care for him a bunch! Read it all earlier. His analysis is very sound! Best I have seen in the MSM.

I don't see why Dick Morris is a reason to vote for Hillary; she and Bill were happy enough to use and rely on him for many years. Triangulation and welfare "reform." Was he an enlightened fellow then?
Morris is now embittered, that's for sure, but that doesn't automatically mean everything he says is wrong.

Let's not forget, it was Dick Morris who brought Mark Penn into the fold and it was these geniuses who thought that focus group questions like "Should we bomb Bosnia?" were a good idea.

Ah the nostalgia! Dick Morris cutting through the CNN spin, Bill O'Reilly doing investigative journalism on Jesse Jackson's corporate shakedowns, the Drudge Report loading a pixel at a time in your AOL browser... breathe in the 90s! Now I'm waiting for Michael Barone to clue me in to this hot, young, Vincente Fox character- what's he all about, hmm?

I'm just amazed that what Dick Morris writes is something worthy of posting about on a progressive website, but that's just me and I must be wrong because, looky here, this is a recommended post!
What's next? Posts from Jonah Goldberg? William Kristol? How's bout Karl Rove?

If it's anti-Hillary it becomes a most recommended post. Doesn't matter how silly it is.

Word, Bruce.
Anyone that even gives that scumbag the time of day is contributing to "politics as usual."
I thought Obama's supporters were above that. I thought they wanted a "change."
Guess I was wrong.

The shit I love is the "it's all over, how come everybody else dosen't get it?" Seriously, do you really think it's actually all over and this fact is being hidden from everyone else in order to gin up ad revenue? Or do you think, just maybe, there's an alternative theory. One that makes a little more sense.

To paraphrase a great man, when it's over, it's over. You can know it's over during counseling. You can know it's over when the papers are being drawn up. You can know it's over when the divorce is finalized. Or you can know it's over when you're moving into an apartment across town. And you'd be right...

I don't care who says it's not over, it's not over. Obama's ahead, and Clinton isn't far enough behind to bow out until she's forced to. Or not, if she bucks party leaders. We're going to PA and maybe further.
Anatol, check your facts. Clinton would still be far behind in delegates if the Florida and Michigan delegates were counted as elected. And I think counting them as elected would taint the whole process in many of our eyes. Can you imagine having every state move their primaries up until we start this whole process six months after we elect a president?

Eliyah,
Readind comprehention, please. I wrote: "Obama might not succeed in shooting down FL and MI re-vote, after which Hillary will probably take indisputable lead in popular vote."
I stand by this statement. This is the reason why Obama's surrogates try to talk their way out of re-vote. I hope they'll fail. And if you think a Democrat can win the party establishment (which is what Super delegates are) by saying "Ignore the popular vote" - I say Florida 2000.
You say "Clinton would still be far behind in delegates" Far behind means far enough for super delegates not to matter - that is an arithmetical impossibility for either candidate. If Obama will prove to be uncapable of winning any large state except his own (including FL and MI), supers will align with Clinton. This is the reason supers have been created in the first place - to break a tie in the interests of the party.

Actually, even if she seats Florida and Michigan, she will still need 2/3 of the remaining superdelegates.
Also, a revote in Michigan will boost Obama´s popular vote numbers.
Also, stop talking about PA without including NC. They are both big states, and Obama stands to win with a better margin in NC than Clinton will in PA.
Whatever. You don´t know the numbers, you haven´t even looked them up.

Again, I´d just like to implore everyone to move on to the next level. It´s clear that Obama wins the nomination.
Let´s start talking about why HRC is still in the race. Is she really trying to steal the election?
There are a host of reasons why she might still be going at it, and I don´t think that any of them have to do with winning.
Let´s take this discussion to the next level.
