county votes
I don't pretend to be an elections expert in any way, but can't something be read into the fact that Obama is doing so much better in cities - democratic strongholds - and Hillary is basically banking on the countryside, i.e. republican strongholds? My first instinct is to say that Obama's strength serves him better in the primary by showing he can win where democrats need to win, but maybe Hillary can better make that case by saying she can take on the republicans on their turf. Can someone give me an answer to that?

I think that the Hillary argument, which in my opinion is both somewhat racist and also somewhat convincing, is that black voters in the cities will come home to her no matter what in the general, while downscale whites might be tempted to vote for McCain over Obama in a way they might not have if Hillary is the nominee. Ross Douthat had a very good post on this recently.

Well, Hillary did win the Democratic strongholds of New York, California, New Jersey and Massachussetts. And Obama is supposed to be doing better among independents and non-traditional Democrats. So, the lesson to be drawn is we are a confused bunch.

Did she? Did we ever get the full story on all the precincts in NYC that registered no votes for Obama (and in a few cases none for Clinton)?
There have been plenty of irregularities in certain spots since Iowa that make me wonder what's going on. And Ohio's recent history ain't great. We really haven't gotten to the bottom of all the things that can go wrong when we vote.
