Branding a Runaway Slave: Carville "Wanted to 'Brand' Richardson like a Rancher Brands Cattle"

I'm sorry, but this is HUGE!!!

Did anyone catch the James Carville interview on either CNN or MSNBC this morning? I can't find the clip and would like to get his exact quote. Basically he said he was unapologetic about the Judas comment in reference to Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama and said something to the effect of, "You know how ranchers brand their cattle? I wanted to brand Bill Richardson as a Judas." There was such an underlying sense of seething hatred in the remark that I was really taken aback by it. Does the Clinton camp think that they own Richardson's body like one would own cattle?

Check out the image of "Branding Slaves" on this PBS website page:

The real issue here, though, is ranchers don't brand their cattle as a form of punishment. No, that is what slave owners did to punish runaway slaves.

Do you still think there is not an inherent racism underlying the Clinton attacks on Obama and his supporters?

That's very unfortunate, and Carville seems to be relegating himself to the Ferraro camp of bad taste, but he's not technically part of the Clinton campaign.

I don't want Obama held responsible for everything one of his supporters say, and I won't hold Clinton responsible for everything one of her supporters say.

That said, assuming what you said is true, I would think it's reasonable to ask Clinton to "denounce and reject" Carville's comments—to betray him, if you will. ;)

The nice thing about being "not technically" part of the Clinton camp, is that Carville can be as obnoxious and reprehensible as he wants, do as much dirty work for the Clintons as he wants, and they can claim distance from him. It's a win-win situation for both parties. No accountability, no apologies. I just wish I could find a link to the interview.

LOL.....that is great if he actually said it. Carville is great.....

Well, Louis, while I don't agree with you that the most prominent Hispanic politician in the country should be regarded as sub-human and treated like cattle, and punished by his masters for disloyalty, I do agree that it is better to laugh at what Carville says than to take him seriously.

Oh for the love of god. Its James Carville. He says things a bit over the top on PURPOSE! How can you get all over a guy that can put down politics to marry and love a republican like Mary....goodness...take a deep breath

Louis, Don't have a stroke on me! But seriously, what's your take on this? You keep mentioning how the Hispanic issue is overlooked, here you have a prominent Hispanic being "punished" for speaking out, yet you take the side of the punishers? Which side are you on?
