Bad Moons Rising
If this Spitzer thing isn't a harbinger of the apocalypse, I don't know what is. An upper-crusty prostitution ring is something right out of Kubrick-- which is why we ought to watch the sky for incoming Soviet Missiles. Or satellites.
If WB Yeats was alive today, he'd already have offed himself. Nostradamus too. Used to be a floor fight at a convention was something to look forward too-- a gladiatorial bout between illiterate tobacco-chewers rife with accusations of mother-whoredom, and wife-whoredom. But it was all in good fun. This Spitzer salvo is a slap in the face to all those Jackson haters deep in the cold ground. Now what accusations do we have in our bag of tricks? Experience and the lack-thereof! Optimism and the lack thereof! Is this a student council election? Ye Gods! Even Nixon knew if you were gonna be bad, you had to do it right! The Delegate count will occupy the media-badlands of late March for about 45 more seconds, and the Super delegates will start to bore the shit out of everyone too. You can tell the media is looking for a new horse-- shit, there's an election TODAY and all anyone wants to talk about is that ugly bastard Spitzer and his shenanigans. I'm starting to look forward to the inevitable sunday morning when Ed Rendell will blare like an Air Horn whatever crazy thought pops into his head. How you you feel about a Hillary/Lincoln ticket, Mr. Governor? "Well, obviously, I'd be very excited about that. Mr Lincoln will have to answer some questions to the American people, such as 'Why have you been dead for 150 years?' and obviously he'll have to have an answer for that. And Senator Clinton will have to answer some questions as well, such as 'What sort of shovel did you use?' and such, but that would be great, as long as our Party is united... oh, Lincoln was a Republican, you say? Well, fuck him," followed the next day by the inevitable apology to Lincoln's family. Then Clinton will weigh in "but I think that President Grant did some wonderful things for the slavery movement too-- and Barack Obama is kind of like Lincoln, you know?" and it will go on and on and on.
