Setting a Few Matters Straight_ Why I'm for Hillary and not Obama. Part 3: Why I'm Not Sold on Obama.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Obama, as I have pointed out in Part 2, is one of the good guys. However, if Hillary isn't the Devil, then Obama is not Jesus.
But he is closer to Dionysus, and he has his Maenads.
Apparently he has been Dionysus for a long time in Illinois. An April 3, 2007 New York Times article has this to say about Obama's fundraising skills:
Improbably, Mr. Obama, running as something of an outsider, wound up raising $15 million and winning that 2004 Senate race. Now that he is running for president, his fund-raising prowess has helped make him the chief rival to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.
And later:
A look at his 2004 Senate race shows how he laid the foundation for his current fund-raising

That's why you're against Obama's nomination!? He's good at fundraising!? In a process where financial resources are an absolute nescesity, you don't like him because he excels at this!? Clintons have matched his fundraising with fewer donors in the past...did you support Obama then? Help me understand this.

I don't get it either. And where do the Maenads come in? Obama has been hosting orgies in Chi-town?

I have always found that odious corruption is directly proportionate to the amount of power and money involved. Hence, for the ethically challenged, the greater the power, the more personal wealth to be attained, the more despicable the act. That is why chief executives like Kenneth Lay and the scum around the Bush Administration are so repulsive. Consequently, former USA presidents raising money for $1B foundations and $500MM libraries, largely from foreign governements and large corporations, deserve far more scrutiny than a state senator.
Bill Clinton get a $20MM windfall from severing his relationship with the unsavory Ron Burkle. Bill gets a $30MM "contribution" to his foundation the week after helping a Canadian secure Kazakhstan uranium rights...which are later sold within 24 months for a $3B profit. A month later, another $100MM is pledged by the same.
Hundred of millions of sealed records from the prior Clinton Administration, including the First Lady's daily itenerary and phone logs...and George Wojtowycz is worried about what is in Barack Obama's closet?
You may not be worried about the skeletons Bill has accumulated over the last seven years, but the Superdelegates are. House and Senate leadership fears an ethics challenged Clinton candidacy could cause them to lose the majority and chairmanships gained in 2006.
HINT: The New York Times reports on its front page about Bill Clinton's influence peddling in Kazakhstan, but Fox News' bloviating, right wing pundits are virtually silent, but for a sigle Dick Morris column...this is swiftboat material about uranium, a democracy dictator, private jets and quid pro quo influence peddling worth $130MM.

Cadmus,
Also appearing on the front page of the NY Times on Sunday was a story about how Obama took hundreds of thousands of dollars from an Illinois power company -- Exelon -- which owns a nuclear power plant downstate. After the plant leaked, the community residents asked Senator Obama to do something about it. He introduced legislation *requiring* power companies report such leaks to their neighbors. And he gave lots of fiery speeches about Exelon. But when the rubber hit the road, he wound up watering down the law so that it only *suggested* that power plants make those disclosures.
Now, the article suggests that he might have done it because of Republican obstructionism in the Senate -- which suggests that his bipartisan approach won't result in any actual changes. Or maybe it was because he took a lot of money from the industry that he was trying to regulate.
There's some fantasy brewing that it's only the Clintons who get money from the big corporations, but Obama's at the trough too. The only one who wasn't getting corporate dollars was Edwards . . . and look what happened to him!

Please read this entire post on Daily Kos as due to the unfortunate remodeling the handlers of TPMCAFE were engaged in resulted in my not being able to upload my entire post. If read in full, my post may be better understood. Look for gwojtowy's diary.

For those of you who support Barack Obama, PLEASE go to

These are his own words from his book, friends and family. He was right when he said that no politician is clean. He is just as dirty if not more so than the rest. Some new change. He is not an outsider he's in the Senate. Why did he go along with supporting the war once he had the power to vote against it? What a hypocrite. I feel sorry for those who were taken in by him.
He has taken the great words of JFK and MLK and used them for his own. What a fraud. Yes the U.S. desperately wants change. They want change from George W Bush and it doesn't matter who it is. Obama wants you to believe in the words that he says but it's not what he believes in his heart.
