Russert: Almost One Too Many Hypothetical Questions

Hyopthetical questions are useful to a certain point, but Russert kept going and going until
I thought the next question would be, "Tomorrow, a bonafide UFO lands on the White House lawn
tomorrow.  What will you do?"  The value of such questions becomes lost at a certain point due to the sheer irrelevance.

Yeah.. it seems like Russert tries to use this a way to get candidates to nail their positions to deadlines. It might appear to be more revealing, but it's only useful so far as the future actually ends up mirroring the hypothetical.
