Rush on Obama
The title of this post might read as a cheering directive, as in "rush on, Obama!" But this time, sadly, tis about Mr. Limbaugh's rant this afternoon about Barrack Obama's "one new idea" and how it's illustrative of what a much more difficult target Obama is (for the hard right) than Clinton.
Essentially, Limbaugh's claim this morning was that Obama's one new idea in the campaign was a message to the American people that our country is bad and they/we don't have a chance to succeed. He did his ususal schtick using a child's voice to question Mrs. Obama about why they have no chance to succeed. He repeated several times his (Limbaugh) claim that Obama's message is that American's have no chance to do better. "Unless your Daddy is President."
Whether one is a Clinton or Obama supporter, Limbaugh is at least an irritant, but listening to the entertainer this afternoon, I realized that at least with Obama he literally is forced to make things up. That is, his jabs were wholecloth fiction--fodder for his listeners to be sure, but harmless to the rational, and not convincing for any republican looking for a talking point.
Attacks on Clinton, however, have been and will be more substantive, if exaggerated, and they can be turned into real reminders of the darker parts of the Clinton legacy. Limbaugh's reference today of the "Clinton Library and Massage Parlor" is just one not-so-subtle reminder of what lays in wait with a Clinton nomination and/or Presidency. The difference is, Limbaugh, Ingrahm, Hannity et al. will lend authenticity to their attacks just by virtue of the long Clinton history. And this vitriol will be picked up by "reasonable" republicans. Whereas with Obama, right wing talkers' only option is to try to kill hope. What "reasonable" republican will want to join that bandwagon.
So, thank you Rush Limbaugh for making our choice clearer. Rush on, Obama!

Is Rush on drugs? Again?

Well, look what having "Daddy be the President" did for George W. Bush.
Truthfully, this is a bit cynical of me, and for that, I say "who cares?"
It's going to be far easier to respond to any out of line criticisms about Barack Obama in the general than it would be for Clinton. All it takes is calling the "out of line-er" racist - the one thing it's truly no longer fashionable to be in "mainstream" America. The discussion then shifts to them defending themselves, having to say they are not.
Like I said - cynical to a fault. So what? Don't you think it's better to have the Republicans having to defend unanswerables for once? When life hands you an advantage, and the stakes are high, it's foolish in the extreme not to use it.
And yes, Limbaugh is still on drugs. In other news, the sun will rise in the east tomorrow and water is reported to be wet.

Old Grouch:
You misread my post. Your "Like I said" paragraph is PRECISELY MY point.

No, it's you who misread my post. I am agreeing with you, and going one further.

Did you actually listen to Rush? If so, thanks for the sacrifice.

I don't think they'll get a lot of traction attacking Hillary for anything Bill did if she gets the nomination. Ann Coulter will kick their fat butts.

Seriously, though. The "this country is bad" theme is going to be trouble. Also that the 85% who supported the invasion are dumb.

(just to be polite) dumb isn't quite the right word. But definitely much more than 85% of the population are unsuitable for POTUS.
