I also find his anti-Obama shilling painful, but it makes sense given his political beliefs. He argues in his latest book that universal health care, by proving that more government can be a good thing, can be a stepping stone to a broader progressive agenda. So any step away from that is, to Krugman, a step away form the whole progressive agenda.

I don't happen to agree, but I respect him enough to cut him some slack.
