Our Congress
It's lovely how quickly and thoroughly our Congress will investigate matters that have to do with preserving the sanctity of our nation's past-time, but balks (pun intended!) on every issue that has to do with preserving the sanctity of our nation.
When is this shit going to stop?

Agreed.
But what makes you think that anyone in Congress cares about our liberties? They care about maintaining and expanding their base of power.
Let's be realistic though. These kinds of hearings give them face time on the major networks, cable networks, sports networks, newspapers...are you seeing a pattern? And they can participate without the dangers of looking too "partisan". It's a veritable political gold mine.
If the American public was well-read, did their research and educated themselves on our government, instead of relying on 5 second sound clips and 10 second YouTube videos, then maybe we could turn the tide.
Instead, we've created a government that is made to order for our A.D.D. society. When is this shit going to stop? When the rest of us stop drinking the party Kool-Aid and start thinking for ourselves. Then we'll become educated (re: dangerous) enough for the government to start listening.

Good points.
Congress is like that kid on the playground who wants to hang with the cool kids (the administration), but is always beaten up or mocked when he tries. So, to save face and maybe vent some frustration, he picks on the kid under him in the social ladder so he can feel tough.
If we cared as much about the institutions and people running our lives as we do about our sports, this place would be a utopia.

I'm with you all. Kills me that our elected officials so enthusiastically call a ball player a liar when they can't muster the courage to do the same with the administration.
