Obama's Call For Change Will Require A Group Effort
Barack Obama has proven that he can take a punch and he looks more
presidential day by day. He has shown great skill in being able to
dodge or rebound from assaults by the Clinton Campaign that have shown that they are not above hitting below the belt. But its the GOP,
with their God-fearing Christian-rite (no, they are not right) that
take gutter politics to a whole new level.
Now it is the Tennessee
GOP and Ohio talk show host Bill Cunningham, who have brought to the
forefront the GOP's sometimes bigoted tendencies in their attempt to
smear and denigrate Obama in separate incidents. Their venomous
behavior is un-Christ-like and I don't think that God is pleased.
Their
diabolical behavior only validates the point made by Obama that change
will not come easy. Too many low-crawlers are fueled by their
self-absorbed meanness. But it's the people of all backgrounds that
hope for positive change in the tenor of America, that must "denounce"
and "reject" the perpetrators instead of remaining silent.
The power lies with the people.

Bussta,
You read my mind! Thank you for the cautionary reminder that we can't become complacent in this effort. It is incumbent upon each and every one us who have committed to the call to stay steadfast and relentless in our determination and support of Barack. We have a voice, but it will take our collective diligence to see this through.
The social deviants bent on business as usual, will taunt and mock us with every trick in their fearmongering bag of tricks! But as you said, the power lies with us!!
Great post!!!!

Thanks RemyD. Change can happen, but citizens must demand it. Just like a child will try a parent, a wrongdoer(s)will see how far he or she can go before being placed in check. In this case those who want a different America must act like the parents.
I read a report that the GOP are now conducting polls to see how far they can push Obama on race before they get in trouble. It appears that the test is in full swing.
People booed Hillary when she attempted to get too personal she she pulled up. The people must boo now like they do at bad performers on "It's Showtime at the Apollo" and we need to summon the "Sandman" to come and get them off the stage.

I am beginning to wonder when the South will try to leave the Union again. It would not be a great loss to the remaining 85% of the USA to be free of the South's obvious, genetically hereditable, bigotry. Of course, the South would soon turn into a third-world nation a la Mexico and that could present problems for the USA. And, of course, allowing the South to have control of the New Orlean's port and the Mississippi River up to Missouri's bootheel would be problematic.
Perhaps Lincoln was wrong not to have permitted to South's secession... would have certainly made the last 148 years easier.
Seriously, not thinking this all too seriously; however, I am rather fatigued with the problems the South have caused and unrepresentative quantities of Federal dollars going to the armpit of the nation (think Mississippi & Alabama).

Hey, PG I am sure that you do not mean to lump everyone in the South or Alabama and Mississippi into the category of being the PROBLEM? Right!
I am on Busta Browns side, I think the biggest falsehood that the Republicans have used in the south is that their policies do no in many ways serve the best interest of many in the South especially the poor. Fact is many of the underprivileged are white, Hispanic and African American but the Republicans have exploited these racial divisions by using the tension in the community to split the vote. They talk about the uneducated, they talk about immigration, they talk about free-riders, welfare recipients etc. all the while avoiding the substantive policies that may alleviate some of the stresses these communities face. They also appeal to those communities offering them a way out through the armed forces, so many feel that their only outlet to providing a life for their families is through giving their lives to their country. I am from the South and have seen the way that politicians and city officials exploit the most under-privileged class in many communities but I am not alone. We must all stand together to help uplift our vision of America and we must focus both on the successes and the failures so that our effort
are truly accomplished.

Your attempt to dismiss an entire region of the Country is the very reason Barack Obama and his supporters will bring on another democratic defeat this fall.
You have shouted down and insulted anyone who didn't support Obama from the get go and those life-long Democratic voters may well stay home this fall as a result.
You will need every Democrat and then some to take the election.
I'd suggest you start attempting to mend some fences instead of demonizing the entire South.

The poster may be dismissing the South, but it's obvious that Barack Obama is not writing off the South or any region, that's why he has campaigned everywhere and his message has been that he is not running to be president of red states or blue states, but President of the United States of America. So unless the poster is a surrogate, it's hard to see how it's deduced that Obama is writing off anyone.
