Obama Should Just Tell Them to RTFW.

I've been less than impressed with Obama's rapid-response operation this week, as McCain and Clinton rolled out the meme that he's merely an inspirational thinker and not a "grownup" policy thinker with "solutions."  So long to all that.  Why doesn't Obama just refer everyone to his information-packed Web site and point out that the other campaigns, in neglecting its existence, are being either intellectually lazy or dishonest -- take your pick.

Agreed, I've been saying it for a while now. He has the plans all outlined, and yet no one knows. Checking there web sites was the first thing i did.

Only reason I can think of is that posting policy info *only* to his website makes the impression that he's not interested in reaching folks without easy, high-speed access to the internet, and folks without the time or capacity to read all that detail on their own. In other words by saying, "go read my website," he's only appealing to the same educated people who are driving his campaign. It kind of sounds elitist.

And before people jump on me - I DON'T THINK THAT'S WHAT HE'S SAYING OR TRYING TO DO - I just wonder if that's the concern and the reason why he hasn't directed more people to his website.

But this does raise an interesting point - not everyone has time or ability to get his policy info, and this is the demographic segment he hasn't been so good at reaching (the same demo who believes HRC when she says "all flash, no substance") so maybe he needs to release more of his policy info in other, non-website, ways. I agree there's plenty of substance to read if you go looking for it, but maybe for some it's a turn-off to have to go and hunt for it. I like the hunt, myself, but I can see why it's not fun for some.

"Obama Should Just Tell Them to RTFW."

That IS what he does. His campaign actively says to NOT get involved in policy.

Pretty damn elitist.

It's like you don't even listen to his speeches. You realize that he's being inspirational so you tune him out. He actually does discuss his policies—sometimes in excruciating detail—if you choose to listen. That it's also on his website means that there's absolutely no excuse (not even tuning out, which would be a pretty lame excuse anyway) for arguing that he has no concrete policies.

Obviously, for the reasons you mention, he shouldn't tell them to RTFW, which is why he doesn't (despite your claim otherwise).

His campaign actively says to NOT get involved in policy.
