McCain Protests Way Too Much Too Soon

John McCain's challenge for Senator Obama to limit his campaign spending begs this question:

Now that there is a serious prospect for a black American to be President of the U.S., why is he asked to drop his Pacific and Atlantic sails for his historically privileged opponent with sails designed for the Persian Gulf?

Had McCain's challenge come before he learned that Obama was fundraising the rain out of the sky, with the popular vote seemingly arriving by advance dollars, it would be credible. It only came after he realized how far behind Obama has become in fundraising. There is a public groundswell of support for Mr. Obama.

Obama will also beat challenges to his depth and capacity for the office by being a quick-study, using his youthful energies for that purpose, and daring to lead and learn at once. No one running for president this year has ever been president, so the experience attack will not govern among senators.

Correction, 3rd para, 2nd to last sentence:

It only came after he realized how far behind Obama has become in fundraising.

should read

It only came after McCain realized how far behind Mr. Obama he has become in fundraising.

I was very interested in the statements that came out in the story regarding McCain's staff and their efforts to protect him from himself, by acting to stop the lobbyist from contacting him, and I wonder how far his "handlers" will go to "protect" him and protect their (oops, I mean his) ambitions.

I am told by more than one person who has contacted McCain's office about corruption and illegal activities within the government defense contracting arena that McCain's defense aid made a dandy (and not very respectful) roadblock to their getting any help and assistance. One can only wonder if McCain ever even heard about the cases and circumstances these federal and industry employees were trying to bring to his attention. One could surmise that his handlers would be most interested in keeping him out of another conflict with the powerful Boeing company, because of his Presidental aspirations, after all the fall out from the previous infamous "tanker deal."
