I'm sorry, so sorry...

When did we become a nation of apologists?  Over the past few years everyone seems to be
looking for apologies.  In the old days,
I think it was called making someone cry “Uncle.”

Or “Aunt”.

So in the spirit of the national mood, I’d like to call for an apology of my own:

I’d like an apology from the Bill Clinton for introducing my nephew, 7 at the time, of the words associated with oral sex.  In part because of his conduct, we lowered the national discourse on the evening news to the point where now you might even hear the word “pimp.”  Still I know, it was all a vast right wing conspiracy, so maybe I’ll give the Clintons a break here.

How about:  I’d like an apology from Bill Clinton for looking the nation in the eye and telling a bald-faced lie about “not having relations with that woman.”  Frankly I don’t really care about his shenanigans in the White House.  Although I’m assuming that some who are so freaked out by a word like “pimp”, were terribly freaked out by a man in a superior position committing sexual harassment in the workplace.  Isn’t Monica someone’s daughter, too?  Maybe Monica’s mother should have asked for an apology and then an impeachment?

But supposedly this election isn’t about Bill Clinton, so maybe I should give this a rest.

How about this:  I’d like an apology from Hillary Clinton for duping her supporters with false stories about her campaign financing.  I mean, she was willing to *lie* to her supporters to raise money.  Lie.  To the people supporting her.  I wonder what she would do to get votes?

But, in the grand scheme of things, I suppose that you have to resort to some political moral relativism to get elected these days.

Okay, how about this:  I’d like an apology from Hillary Clinton for her vote on the war in Iraq without even bothering to do her homework (reading the NIE).  People died from that misjudgment.

Let me repeat:  people died.  As in death.  As in not on this earth anymore.

And Hillary still won’t admit error – and for what are obviously political reasons.  Others have.  Why not Hillary?

Yeah, I think I need to hear an apology from Hillary on this one.  Then we can worry about some other campaign apologies.

How about an apology from you for a wasting my time reading this drivel? By all means, let's revisit the issues of the 90s. And let's not focus our apology demands on the Republicans who flogged this story endlessly. No, they had nothing to do with the cheapening of the discourse.

And how about an apology for using a screen name that is the exact opposite of the kneejerk, no-thought-required mishmash of Republican talking points you've spewed here? I've read several of your comments on this site, and they are uniformly the most uninsightful screeds imaginable. How about just one time you offer some kind of point of view that isn't just a tired rehash of the crap you can read on a million other sites? What a waste of space you are.

By the way, you forgot "he didn't inhale." That wouild bring a fresh perspective to the discussion.

Hi ChrisO:

I didn't bring up "he didn't inhale" because it wasn't relevant to the point I was trying to make.

Thanks for being a loyal reader, even if we don't agree on everything.

Hey Chris,
How about this one

Man, you're right. Rich really rehashed a lot of tired CW and talking points, didn't he? Do you think it was a parody?
