HILLARY Dictating Terms
New memo from Bizarro world:
To: Interested Parties
From: The Clinton Campaign
Date: Friday, February 29, 2008
RE: Obama Must-Wins
The media has anointed Barack Obama the presumptive nominee and he's playing the part.
With an eleven state winning streak coming out of February, Senator Obama is riding a surge of momentum that has enabled him to pour unprecedented resources into Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont.
The Obama campaign and its allies are outspending us two to one in paid media and have sent more staff into the March 4 states. In fact, when all is totaled, Senator Obama and his allies have outspent Senator Clinton by a margin of $18.4 million to $9.2 million on advertising in the four states that are voting next Tuesday.
Senator Obama has campaigned hard in these states. He has spent time meeting editorial boards, courting endorsers, holding rallies, and - of course - making speeches.
If he cannot win all of these states with all this effort, there's a problem.
Should Senator Obama fail to score decisive victories with all of the resources and effort he is bringing to bear, the message will be clear:
Democrats, the majority of whom have favored Hillary in the primary contests held to date, have their doubts about Senator Obama and are having second thoughts about him as a prospective standard-bearer.

UNFAIR! He's cheating by running an efficient, effective campaign with prudent financial management and rational organization.
Nobody told us we were going to have to work for the votes of all these little people, and even in little states. He's taking unfair advantage of the fact that he planned ahead.
So Hillary should be given the nomination.

You're so right! Because if Hillary had won 11 primaries in a row by decisive margins, won the number of states 2 to 1, had a million more popular votes, why she never would expect Senator Obama to step aside for the good of the party. Why, even though he won more delegates in Kansas than Hillary did in New Jersey, he'd be toast. Because those pesky red states don't count (who needs a few more progressives in Congress. Not Hillary! She can fight them all to the ground all by herself!) Of course he has a funny name that isn't Clinton.
Under these conditions no one but Hillary could whine her way into the press supporting this patent nonsense. And pretend she's a feminist when she's done nothing that wasn't attached to the Clinton name, and goes after the sympathy vote. Some feminist.
But she did. The press repeats her press releases as if they have any bearing on reality.
Stand up for yourselves, guys. For once.

Texas doesn't count because it's a red state and besides there's a caucus involved.
Ohio doesn't count because it's got all those African Americans in the cities... And because Obama was mean about NAFTA (Shame on You Barack)
Vermont doesn't count because it's a small state...
Rhode Island - the new Clinton Firewall!
