Clinton/Obama polls?
I've read all the polls that say Obama beats Clinton against McCain. I'm more interested in knowing how a Clinton (Pres) / Obama (VP) ticket would fare against McCain. My logic for supporting a Clinton/Obama ticket over an Obama/Clinton ticket is simple—I think a Clinton/Obama ticket would almost guarantee 16 years of Democrats in the White House. My gut says the same would not be so sure if Obama/Clinton ran against McCain. They might win 8 years, but Clinton will most likely not chance a presidential run at the age of 68.
Both Clinton and Obama will be great Presidents. All you Obama fans out there...would you vote for him as Vice President with Clinton as President? I think the two of them would garner a Presidential landslide against McCain, and after 8 years as VP, Obama will have matured in his political savvy and be able to cake walk into the Presidency.
I'm also curious to know if the DNC has considered this possibility. If I were a Superdelegate, I'd encourage this scenario. It's not at all unusual for members of the DNC to pressure candidates to accept positions that will benefit the party. In reality, Clinton and Obama's views are very similar, and their differences could be pretty easily negotiated. What say all of you out there?

i think you will get near unanimous rejection of your idea from obama supporters. And I don't see either as a vp candidate.

I agree with you about the Obama supporters, but I can see him as VP in the same way I saw Gore. Gore used his position to do great things at the time, and later on, and I can see Obama the same way. The only difference is that I see Obama taking the Presidency, where Gore kinda blew it.

Well, I would vote for either ticket, but I'm not sure why Obama would be willing to curtail his presidential run (especially when he's ahead) on the chance that he'll be elected in 8 years - you have to strike while the iron is hot. I feel that way about Hillary - had she run in 2004 she may have gotten the nomination; she put it off for 4 years and look what happened? She ran into a juggernaut named Obama - who could have predicted that?
Chances are just as good that he will select a Vice Presidential candidate who will be very appealing to most voters, who can then run for President in 8 years. I agree with storm - I just don't see either as a VP candidate.

i don't see how clinton could at this point come back without resorting to methods that would alienate obama and his supporters. i think she will be a senator for a long time, hopefully an effective one.

The only way they'll both be on the ticket is if the pledged delegate count is so close that there is a widespread demand (especially from DNC and supers) that the winner of the pledged delegates unite the party by adding the other as the VP.
There's almost no way that Obama is losing the pledged delegate race.
I think Obama may choose a woman to be on the ticket who is not Hillary Clinton - he has a couple of women Governors who are campaigning hard for him right now. It would be a smart move and I think would even get Hillary's blessing (because she doesn't want to be VP). Perhaps she would become Senate majority leader - would be an improvement over Reid.

The way things look, it would be Obama/Clinton.He appears to be the preferred leader between the two. Besides what kind of job would VP be with the First Man being a former president. Hillary could run for president at 68 much like McCain is doing at age 71. She should have run in 2004, but now she is about to lose to O-mentum. I think that people are also rejecting Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton? There are more than two families in this country that can serve as president.
