Ann Richards Supports Hillary From The Grave!
How pathetic can the Clinton campaign get? I think we are getting an answer to that here.
Hillary has put out a TV ad claiming Richards would support her. She got one of the three Richards children to cosign her argument and when the two objecting kids said they wouldn't sue her over it, they ran it anyway.
I wonder if Jesus is going to endorse Mike Huckabee? Will MLK endorse Obama? I hear Teddy Roosevelt is coming out for McCain.
Politics sucks.

Make a statement? Make history?
Okay... I just donated to the Obama campaign.
That one was for Ann!

That makes two other world supporters of candidates - Molly Ivins supports Barack Obama. Why we don't hold primaries in cemeteries is a mystery to me.

I'm sorry, does Obama have an equivalent ad on the air in Texas exploiting the memory of Molly Ivins that I'm not aware of or is this just another "it's all dirty politcs" excuse for Clinton?

Yikes! I hope the Clinton campaign pulls this back in...quick! I fear Texans would be pretty uncomfortable with this. Hope it doesn't play on TV. Ann hasn't been gone very long and the bruise is still tender. This would surely be seen as a tacky exploitation of our much-beloved "lady guvner."
Molly Ivins didn't endorse Barack Obama--she died before he announced he was running. However, she did say she wouldn't support Hillary Clinton for president. (But I'm SURE she didn't mean that she'd refuse to vote for Hillary in the general election--against John McCain!)

That hasn't stopped any of his supporters from using her as an endorsement.

Yeah, I know. I hope I never hear of Obama's campaign doing it.
It just feels creepy, like seeing those dead celebrities appearing in commercials for -- what was it? Pepsi?
Anyway, it surprises me when marketing pros think that using dead people to endorse products or candidates is a good idea. It isn't! It's kinda creepy.

You know, this really shows how dumb Clinton is when it comes to campaigning. She's already demonstrated that she has no sense for what people will find distasteful, but she doesn't even know how to properly exploit this! Of all the inspirational memories she could have invoked, all the ways she could have described the influence Ann Richards had on her, what they picked was a clip of Hillary talking about advice on doing her hair? Unbelievable.

here's a nice op-ed by Molly Ivins; I'll quote the first 2 paragraphs:
"I'd like to make it clear to the people who run the Democratic Party that I will not support Hillary Clinton for president.
Enough. Enough triangulation, calculation and equivocation. Enough clever straddling, enough not offending anyone This is not a Dick Morris election. Sen. Clinton is apparently incapable of taking a clear stand on the war in Iraq, and that alone is enough to disqualify her. Her failure to speak out on Terri Schiavo, not to mention that gross pandering on flag-burning, are just contemptible little dodges."

Molly sure knew how to sing it, didn't she?

And people here, at TPM are criticising Obama for capitalizing on Molly's comments about Hillary?
What should they do? Molly had Hillary's number. And so do Obama supporters. It is silly to suggest that because Molly didn't comment on Barack it is unfair to use her negative Hillary comments. Barack actually stands for many of the things that Molly couldn't stand about Hillary.

So, I'm guessing that HRC supporters consider Obama people bringing up Ivins as the same as the Richards thing? Or is it straw grasping because they have no real response to this Richards BS? I'm not up on the background to this argument.

I welcome their implication that comments on the internet represent the campaign.

BTW I love that Ivins op-ed. She summed up precisely why the old guard of the Democratic Party is impotent and useless.

This is in good taste and this message is important. Anne Richard’s daughter said that her mother would campaign for Hillary with a passion and she approved this ad. Also, Ann campaigned for Bill Clinton for President. Bill and Hillary knew Ann for 30 years and they were close friends. Ann was a feminist and there is no question that she would approve of a woman in the White House. George Bush beat Ann for Gov. in the end. We know how Hillary and Bill feel about George Bush. Ann was an amazingly strong woman, and there is NO DOUBT that she would have campaigned for Hillary. Ann’s daughter said it was OK, and that is good enough!
