  • Lamont wins the primary. Noting internal polls, Lieberman decides "for the good of the party" not to run in a three-way. His wife gets him a gig lobbying for Big Pharma.

  • Exactly.  Can't someone challenge the new bankruptcy law on equal protection grounds?  As bad as it is for corporations to have equal standing to human citizens, isn't it worse for corporations to be "more equal"?

  • Congresswoman Harman, this from your post struck me:

And even if the referendum fails, one senior military officer told me the Sunnis could be even further motivated to participate in the political system to influence the redrafting of a constitution more acceptable to them.

Do you see how ludicrous this is?  Would Sunni influence on the Shia majority be any more effective than Democratic influence on the Republican majority here?  Thugs are thugs the world over; maybe the Sunnis have looked at "American democracy" and the thuggery of our majority party and decided democracy is a game they don't want to play.

  • You say we haven't been attacked by a foreign power or terrorist group.  Don't let that disguise the fact we have been attacked.  We've been attacked by a domestic enemy, insidious and well-coordinated.  A group of Americans has infiltrated the centers of power in government and media and attacked us systemmically.  They have broken up and fed upon the fruits produced by the liberal governments of the post WWII era.

Now, we are rotting from within, depleted.  Our national resources have been diverted to the benefit of the corporate oligarchy and the whims of that child in the White House playing "army."

As I said earlier, elections have consequences.  The people who hate government have gotten control of goverment and have been starving it (while pocketing the good bits for themselves).

Wake up, America.  The enemy is here.

  • The thing is, you have to remember how neocons warp the language.  When GWBush says "democray" or "freedom," he means the right of corporations to own and exploit the resources of a country.  He and his aren't talking about governing -- they are just not that into that.  They want the stuff and the power to get the stuff.  All else is bamboozle.

  • One of today's stories is about how underfunded the VA is and how vets returning from Iraq are going without needed care.

Dems should point out that while this is disgusting, it is not shocking since the VA is headed by a Republican political operative and we all know that the Republican mantra is all about how much they hate government -- except as a source of big contracts for the corporations they will be working for when they leave government.

If people want the government to work again they need to elect Democrats.

  • Okay, I admit at the outset this is going to sound preposterous, too evil to be true, even for Bush and Co., but here it is:

Jim P mentioned earlier that Valerie Plame's assignment had something to do with monitoring Saudi Oil.  Now, could it be possible that Plame was not outed as a punishment to Wilson for speaking out?  Is is possible that was merely a bonus?

I mean, is it possible that Bush, Inc.'s main purpose in outing Plame was to out Plame? -- to destroy our intelligence-gathering capabilities where the Saudis are concerned?  I would think this would be the highest of high treason and I admit it is unthinkable.  But I am thinking it.  Don't the Bush family, the Cheney people -- the lot of them -- have their lives all bound up in oil in Asia?

    Please someone debunk this!
