  • John McCain, tough to support.

John McCain has flip-flopped and flopped back and flipped again on many of the important issues in which he's involved himself over the past 8 years. All in a desperate ploy to be palatable enough with the right-wing of his...more »

I have a hard time believing that this scandal will amount to anything beyond some old headlines. Investigations have a way of disappearing when the GOP feels threatened under the Bush Administration.I hope those Dems with clout and in a...more »

Following the right-wingers belief that God uses nature to punish the wicked & the sinners, I wonder why none have made the obvious connection that these hurricanes are meant to be a sign from The Almighty that the GOP is...more »

  • Unfortunately, this will not get very widespread distribution and likely won't reach the 15% or so of truly undecideds. Too bad, it's fairly obvious she is a Bush Republican, where ideology and party affiliation trumps all and truth & accountability are something to be spun.

  • To paraphrase Dick Cheney, "I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the GOP."

  • If Palin withdrew, ultimately she'd be seen as a lightweight who got booed off the stage. And women would likely view her as a quitter, someone who couldn't take the heat, and did their cause harm.

Your concerns seem to assume that the GOP/MSM operate in a vacuum. While I agree that the Dem voice sometimes gets lost in the caucophony of right-wing screeching, the only people who will hang on to some sort of "the liberals were too mean" meme will be the dumb fucks who already hysterically support Palin because they've been told to. The rest will see it for what it is because it is too obvious to miss and too hard to spin (like her foreign policy 'experience' of being near Russia).

  • You're right, if all you read are the tits comments.

I've seen many posts and good points made about Troopergate, her slush fund for some milk factory in AK, and her support for/from Ted Stevens. Not to mention her connection to some weird secessionist movement. And ad nauseum about her utter lack of experience and general lightweightedness.

The baby stuff is stupid and should stop. Of course, by the GOP's own standards, the daughter's baby out of wedlock makes Palin an unfit mother, completely devoid of family values. But they're hypocritics so I've no doubt they'll get past it for one of their own.

  • Ridiculous. She's a religious right-wing Republican. They aren't allowed to have sex out of wedlock. Sheesh.

  • Who cares? The kid obviously knew he was having sex with the Governor's daughter. Sure he's a young kid, probably never thought in a million years that THIS might happen, but clearly he didn't think about the consequences at all.

  • This lady sounds like a real solid GOP politician.

    Nice work.

It'll get zero coverage though because, who cares about milk? It just has no pizzaz. As a local topic, probably very interesting to the news folks, but the national MSM won't see beyond the boring setting for this piece, despite the fact that it appears to be yet another blatant abuse of power with the intent to enrich a few cronies at the expense of the taxpayer. Classic GOP.

  • I recognize that your post uses hyperbole and stereotypical language to make a point. I agree with your sentiment completely.

A question I like to ask my (fewer and fewer) GOP friends, those who like to spew the "personal responsibility" angle is this: Did you go to the college you always wanted to? What school did you really have your heart set on when you were just a young kid?

The point is this... and it hasn't failed yet. The person's response always makes clear that they thought about college from a young age, that it was a foregone conclusion.

Then I point out that most kids in the ghettos and projects, or in poverty stricken rural areas, never even consider college a viable option. It just likely never crosses their minds as something THEY could actually do. I can't imagine the outlook on life for someone who grew up thinking Opportunity wasn't an option. The difference between me and my GOP friends is that I actually care about that enough to contemplate it. Which has led me to be more liberal in my beliefs and more accepting of "different" people.

And one girl in particular, I remember her supporting gun control because it was just a person's right. She said, if a guy buys a gun and kills someone with it, they should pay the price. Personal responsibility. Voila! I asked her what the dead person should do. She had no answer.

  • I read Greenwald every day and this particular post is fairly consistent with nearly all of his posts about the incredible abuses of power and infringement on Americans' Constitutional rights that seem to be occurring with greater frequency and a deafening silence from the media and local government.

It's scary and a big BIG reason to vote Obama in November.
